Default Looking for aero modifications that ACTUALLY work

I’ve got a manual ‘02 is300, I’m trying to get into various forms of Motorsport like track days, autocross, drifting etc. I’m interested in hearing if anyone has done any aero upgrades to their cars that ACTUALLY do something useful. Such as splitters, canards, diffusers etc. just looking for some input, thanks. If you got something please lmk the brand and part.

I don't think downforce is what you need quite yet but anyone that is actually using any part like that to be effective on the track has likely tested it in a wind tunnel. There's a WHOLE LOT of snake oil products out there you could buy that have a "race car look" to them but don't work well in terms of the science aspect.

I'd worry about making enough power to need more downforce first. An IS300 isn't really that fast stock.... and none of the bolt on crap you could use on the car is going to do much for it's power level either. I think if you have a turbo motor or ran nitrous in it then downforce might make sense, but both of those are big endeavors to take on.

You won't need aero on the car until you've maxed out your suspension. That goes for time attack, autox and drifting. Everything you listed is basically dress up people do to make their cars look cool.

The one thing you can put on your car to increase downforce over the rear wheels is a GT wing. That makes a huge difference immediately.

Everything you listed is just stuff people do to fine tune downforce and eliminate drag on advanced level track cars.
