Default Adding Resonators on Remark Axleback

Yesterday I installed a Remark Axleback on my 2016 IS300 F Sport. I really like the sound- it sounds great. Silent at 70mph on the freeway, but as soon as you touch the throttle it's very loud (to me) inside of the car. It doesn't sound bad at all, it's just not what I was looking for.

I can't stress this enough- it sounds really, really nice outside of the car.

That said, the cabin noise under load is a no-go for me, so I ordered a pair of Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonators to have installed in the longer middle section of the Remark exhaust. I am wondering if anyone has done this yet, and if so, how it sounds?

I actually ordered another Remark axle back to have these installed on so I'll be able to do a before and after video. And if you're in the Seattle area, I'll have the non-resonated axle back for sale next week with the single wall burnt tips- I'll even help you install it (have a lift, all the right tools, etc.) It took me about 90 minutes to uninstall the factory exhaust and install the new one with a beer break midway through). The new exhaust has the double wall polished tips, which I think will better fit the aesthetic I am looking for.

The resonators arrived yesterday. It looks like they'll fit either immediately after the flange, or in the angled piece the goes out to the tip.

Which section would you folks install them? I am thinking in the angled section.

they’re ~14” long. I believe that’s too long to mount them their without changing the rest of the exhaust as well.

The second exhaust should get here tomorrow or Tuesday so once it’s laying in front of me I’ll have a better understanding of what would fit.

Resonators are on, and it sounds exactly how I want. Still a bit of drone from 2-3k rpm, but it’s much quieter and no longer rattling the plastics inside the car.

Little rumble at idle, quiet while cruising, but comes to life under load. I think it’s perfect, and not too loud. As an example, at WOT the RR intake can still be heard. Without the resonators it was all exhaust, and quite loud.

Earned the seal of approval from my wife, which is most important.

The tips are a little wonky, so need to have the exhaust shop straighten those out.

A couple photos. Videos are too large to upload. I’m pretty stoked with the outcome. After buying the resonators and having them welded on, I’m at about $600. Could have went other directions, but I got the exact sound I wanted, and had some fun figuring it out.

I forgot a blanket or towel to put on the seat of my GX :-( Oh well

Put the videos on YouTube. I like how you can see the cans. Reminds me of the 370z

A bit late, but I just took a couple quick videos for anyone interested. Just a cold start in my garage, then driving out of my neighborhood.

When I have a bit more time I will actually let the car warm up and take video of the drone and getting on the throttle a bit more.

Cold start:

Next time I drive it I’ll take a better video for you.

That’s a fair reaction! In retrospect I should have just replaced the mufflers on the stock exhaust, but I like how these look, and the impact they had on the sound. It’s a straight-through design so it doesn’t muffle nearly as much as stock.

Do you guys know what size resonator to get if you just do a muffler delete instead of remark axleback?
