Default Sorry its been long but here's an update on the cammed is350 .

Now i have been in a race to get the car cammed between myself and a friend of mine , to which i lost and my friend won lol . I blew my original motor (without cams, motor went because the timing chains stretched and got caught with a guide and cracked the cylinder head) which caused me to used the spare motor so that i could have a running car. That was on top of having a 2nd kid, repairing the roof of my home and being in a car accident on top of that which caused this long delay. But I'm fine and now back to the great news! We finally have a cammed is350 and it sounds amazing, like a Chevy SS if I'm being honest. Now the car initially had a camshaft failure when the installed was first done. (A valve was bent after making contact with the piston . But the valve was replaced and the issue was corrected . (Not yet sure about what caused the issue but i will update you all when i am informed). Now this is what is done to the car for everyone that is interested and would like to do as well.
-Ported heads
-Ported manifold (upper and lower)
-Ported tundra TB (80mm)
-Ripp performance coilpacks-Nonstop tuning lightweight pulleys-MWR Stage 3 cams
- Titanium valves (MWR)
-Upgraded connected Rods (MWR)
-Stock pistons
Here are some pictures of the process and tomorrow i will upload a video soundclip of the car on my YouTube channel. But i hope you guys enjoy this.

Nonstop tuning lightweight pulley vs OEM

I hope you guys enjoy the update . I will post more on the car's first start up , idle and sounds tomorrow. The car idles very high since it's not tuned for the cams yet . But the great news is that the car is currently in the break in stage at the moment and may be getting tuned tomorrow .

Those are some nice High gains that will payoff. What RPM are the Cams good too now?

Now that is taking to a new height. I'm looking for a set of cheap heads and cams myself. Nice Engine Build!

We are estimating that the cams can allow the car to rev out to 8500rpms . But for reliability purposes, we are looking to push the limiter to 8000-8200rpms. I know with the stock cams , the 2grfse can rev out to 7600rpms and experience no valve float(it's been proven by a gentlemen in Puerto Rico who pushed his car everyday at that rev limit with no issues). The goal was to push the limiter to 8000rpms and we believe that we can absolutely achieve that !

I see some nice big gains when Tuned in too. A few more q's please?

Did you use the same size Rods? Are they lighter? Did you consider doing longer Rods to Stroke to say a 3.7?

I spoke with a shop in Cali who has done Reground cams for the 2UZ. How did you come to you Cams specs? Or are those the Monkey Wrench cams? They have 3 Stages which one?

What Intake set up (Air Box) are you using?

What ECU Tune are you using to Tune with?

BTW: With all the life stuff you have going on, you did great with getting this done, and not being a "I'm going too do", who did nothing and did not show back up. Thanks for doing......and sharing!!

The cams are Stage 3 from monkey wrench racing . The car will be remote tuned by RR racing, and the intake that's being used is the factory airbox (Fsport lower intake box) and the rods being used were from monkey wrench as well . Crower connecting rods which are lighter than OEM.

Got it. Crower been around for a long time. Good Rods. Lighter is good for a faster throughout RPM. With that Pulley and Rods that thing should rip through the spinning fast. Nice. Thanks. I’m impressed.

Did you consider a Custom like longer Rod? A Stoker Stroked IS370 of such. lol! Likely that would have cost to have done.

Most times a Bent valve is in assembly or the guide or something like that. I had that once on a Bike engine I built up. It’s sucks too. 1 valve wondering Why?

Now that's going to get some Double take looks just idling.

You did some good research and put it together. That 2GR is something! Sounds real Nasty, On Rev's, with the quicker spinning rev happy motor with the Porting and enlargements and that can breath too @8000rpm. Hang on!!! I love it! lol!

I'm totally happy for you, but I have to say its too loud and rumbling for my taste. Once you are broken in, I would love to see a video of you taking it to 8000 rpm. I've been able to do some 0 to 60 runs at 5 seconds (see the link in my signature), and I'm fully stock except for an F-Sport intake. I'm curious what yours will do after your tuned! Again, congrats on a job well done

Polo, hats off to your build here! Looking forward to your grin and some dyno pulls!

Titanium rods, valves, and retainers should promote some great throttle response!

You do anything to the transmission? This might be a good case for shift kit and main pressure increase. That said, they seem to hold up with boost, so you should be okay...

Like everyone else, looking forward to the ride along and drive by!

GL!

I see that there's a company named Import performance transmissions (IPT) that's modifies the valve bodies of the transmission and they even sell built transmissions for the 2IS. The cost is around $4,000. We were thinking of checking them out and see if that works well.
