Default Differential Options

What’s up,
I’m sure it’s been discussed one hundred times But I haven’t found a real definitive thread with pics about the different diff options you can use in your second Gen GS. I have found a bit of info that has helped me with my diff installs so I will post links here along with any other relevant info.

I upgraded my diff a couple of years ago with an LSD and pinion/ring gear from an Aristo that I bought from Japan. I’ve come to realize that I don’t like the higher revs caused by the smaller pinion gear and since I have added some horse power decided to go back to the stock gearing for the GS4.

Here is a pic of the different pinion gears that came installed in a couple of different differentials. One is a stock GS400 diff and one is stock Aristo one.

If you look closely one pinion gear is larger than the other.

Not only are the pinion gears different sizes the ring gears for both diff options are of different sizes.
as you can see in this pic the ring gears have different thicknesses. The Gs400 ring gear is thinner than the Aristo. I’m sure it’s the same for the GS300 but since I got this diff from an Aristo that’s how I will describe it.

The following link has a great specification description for the Supra differentials (which also happen to fit the 2nd Gen GS).
