Default Toms Super Ram Ii Street Air Filter

Ok, new to the group, so first off, hey everyone. You all have some great looking rides in here. I can't wait to start adding to my 2001 GS 300. Looking at all the pics has added about $5 of stuff to my wishlist. LOL

I just picked up a TOMS SUPER RAM II STREET AIR FILTER and it is thin!!!!!!!

My stock filter is about 2.5 inches thick and the Toms is not even an inch.

The pannel on my intake will not close with the Toms filter in there. The metal clips on the cover need the stock filter to secure it.

Anyone had this problem? It is the right part number for my car, and I have worked on cars before, so it is not lack of brain power.

My salesman is going to grab me a used filter and I was going to mod the Toms to fit in it.

If you guys have any suggestions that would be great.

Thanks,

Joel

This one is simple...just bend (expand) the stock springs inside the airbox until they fit the Tom's air filter. I had to do the exact same for my PLP filter. There are two of them ('V' shaped) that hold the stock (wider) filter in place. I would NOT alter the Tom's filter...good luck!
