Help making pic sig size?
I do a lot of photography editing in photoshop, but have never made a sig. My question is this. I make a new canvas based on the size of the sig rules we have. So what is the best way to shrink my picture I want to use in my sig down to a size to fit in the banner? I have been dragging the corners (Transform I think), but this seriously takes 5 minutes and by the time I get it down to size it looks like crap. How do you pro's do it?

you need to crop first
then shrink the image size.
then crop again with the canvas size to meet 450x100 max
you can do all this from the same drop-down menu

OK, someone help!
So I have made my sig 450x100. Now when I try and type text on it, even at 72 I have to zoom in BIG time. So much so that at 72 I can't even see the letters... It is at 8.33% zoom. How can I make the current view to be a 100% view so what I see right now is considered zoomed in...

your image dpi is too high.
go to image size, change the dpi to 72, and change the dimensions back to normal, because it tries to automatically shrink the picture if you tweak the dpi

If you create your canvas to the size rules, there's no need to crop or resize anything. You may have to use different compression than jpeg, though. The jpeg file at those dimensions could still be too large. (file size, not physical size.)
The reason why your type tool is so small is because the images resolution is much too high. Like Dunnojack suggests, go to "image" then "image size" and change the resolution to around 72.
