Question 2nd Gen RC ???

Every time I log on to this section of the Forum (RC - 1st Gen) I wonder if there will be a 2nd Gen? Based on what I've read, it seems unlikely due to lackluster sales especially in the Sports Coupe category. Any thoughts?

If they do release a new one, I hope it doesn’t have taillights like the IS. I just got my RC anyway so selfishly, it would be nice to continue having a rarer car.

My salesman told me they have not heard definitely that the RC350 will be discontinued but he would not be surprised if its not. He also said he has one more coming and is not able to order any 24's at his point. My guess if it does come back it will be a 4 cylinder turbo.

Sooooo let's talk about the GX...as far as running on the same platform for years. I understand the sales numbers are greatly different, but they run these platforms for years.

Let's just hope it keeps going, but I suspect an electric hybrid something something will be next.

Just saw US sales figures though July for the RC350. Less than 1,000 units. This does not bode well for a Second Generation.

Sales figures don't surprise me. Car has been around since 2015, with the 1 refresh. It's old.

I hear you but I'd still like to see a 2nd generation.

The only reason the RC is still produced is because in order for Lexus Racing to use the RCF as their GT3 car, they have to produce and sell the RCF. The new Lexus GT3 test mule has been spotted numerous times, and it's not an RC. We're unlikely to see the RC ever be produced again. If it is, it'll be one more year of the same car for 2024, then be gone.

IMHO I think the market segment for any coupe is very week. Before I bought my RC I was looking at a 840i coupe. The car was sitting on the lot for months.
Not many folks are interested, SUV’s sell in much greater #’s.
I agree the RC design is long in the tooth but I think still relevant.

Do you think if they do discontinue the RC it will hurt or help the resale value?

I don't think it will affect the resale value of these cars at all, especially the regular RC's. Might help the resale value of some of the RCF's but I don't see it happening with how quickly these cars have depreciated. An RCF track edition MSRP'd for like 105, and even with low miles you’re looking at roughly 80k for one now.

the 2023 RCF track edition is limited to 30 units and only one unit has been delivered. No one else has ordered one it seems. They are special order only.
