Anywhoo..thanks Hoovey, you rock
They just surrendered the NX market to the GLK250. Entry. Level GLK250 Bluetec will eat the NX'S lunch.

The pricing of the NX Hybrid is ridiculous if true. I guess they don't see a big market for it so it'll come only fully loaded, exactly the recipe to make a niche product even more niche. They certainly got the cause and consequence mixed up!!

Looks aside, the RC-F sounds quite promising. Thanks for the info Hoovey2411!

any word on the size/wheelbase? how about the weight with and without the CF performance package? the report from australia (http://www.motoring.com.au/news/2013...339kw-v8-38109) had stated that it had a shorter wheelbase than the IS, so does the car have a super shortened version of the GS chassis? i hope this car isnt huge, cuz lets be honest, giving too much room for the rear passengers will only make the car bigger and heavier. let the rear seats be vestigial seats like the 911

also i think its very smart of lexus to offer the CF performance package as an option. it lets the buyer decide if they want to have a "regular" RCF at a lower base price or go into M3 territory with the CF PP. the rumors for the new M3 say it will have E46ish curb weight and we all know bmw underrates their hp numbers. ***** just got real

I have a feeling theres an internal struggle with the bean counters which is why dealers are hearing these ridiculous prices, overlap, margins etc..

Actually yes at the moment they do see the hybrid as a niche. They had told the dealer networks they had planned to alot around 170 NX hybrids a month. We came back and said if you do, don't bother making the damn car. Obviously somthings going to give sooner or later. Also I heard the NX will debut in Japan in February of 2014 to test the market then release 6 months later Stateside

I don't have any numbers but the wheel base is shorter than the GS, but longer than the IS.

Even if the M3/M4 is lighter, it's back to the old I6, wheras the RC will be backed with a V8 soundtrack

So again some overlap but typically equipped NX's should be roughly $3-5K less. I won't comment on the Hybrid NX
is the hybrid price loaded? $3k-$4k is the difference between IS300h and IS250 in Europe.

NX is Japanese built... so not surprised at the price. Hopefully it feels built to that price or more.

the high $49K was for a base NX with NuLuxe (as of right now)

I too would hope the materials are substantial, but we all know how I feel about any car priced below the GS these days

- 461-480hp 5.0L V8 based
Thanks for the info!

71k is too much $$$ imo
M3/4 will start at less than that.

Either way this is very exciting - cant wait to see the RC-F.

$49k for a stripped NX300h? Let's see.. the RX450h AWD starts from $47,710, has 2 more cylinders and 1L more displacement in the engine and tons more room than the NX300h. Both are based on Toyota's mainstream FWD platforms. I wonder which model one would choose between them. There'd better be something magical we don't know about that can justify the seemingly ludicrous premium.

The NX is the direct competitor of the X1, Q3, GLA so pricing should be around 30.000-33.000 NX200t.

Is it just me or does the RC-F make all the M, AMG and RS offerings look really pedestrian based on exterior appearance alone?

Even though this RC-F is sedan- based, this latest render makes it look more like an Audi R8/ Mercedes SLS competitor than an M4/C63/RS4 rival.

Over on the M3 forums, a loaded 435i costs 65K. How much are you willing to bet that a real life example M4 is not going to sniff 71K but be a lot more than that?

Do you honestly expect Lexus to price the V8 RC-F to compete against a 435i price-wise?

I can safely predict that the headlights and tail lights will not look like the camo ring RC-F nor will it look like the blue rendering. They will give it what it needs, the car is still a year away from being sold.
