Anyone with illuminated door sills notice that when your driver door is open, the passenger door still is lit up and I can clearly see it? Is this normal or no??

Ok I didn't install these myself so I really don't know but from my understanding the sills are wired from the footwell lights right? So if the footwell lights are on, so should the sills?

I don't have those on my RC, but on my RX and SC, only the sill with an opened door was illuminated.

No. The sills are illuminated from a plug provided for that purpose. My understand is that the illuminated sills are a Lexus option, and that all cars have the wiring in place just to allow for easy installation by any dealer (or any owner) at any time. Yours sounds like the installation was done incorrectly, or perhaps something got grounded incorrectly. On the other hand, is this a problem you want to spend a lot of time on?

I'm sorry but that is incorrect as there are no plugs for the sills, but instead you have to tap into wires for the foot well lights. I'm thinking the reason the sill light is coming on on the opposite door is it is wired incorrectly. If you follow the wiring diagrams that I provided (from Lexus) it will work as it should. For grounding it would either work or not.

Hmm I can't see it during the day cause it's not bright enough but at night i can see the light coming from the passenger sill when I open the driver door. From my understanding everything was installed as directed from the Lexus printed instructions that came in the box. But since the sills are connected to the lights under the glove and steering wheel then wouldn't it make sense for them to turn on since the both footwell lights turn on when any door is open? Ordered from belleview lexus btw.

I don't know what to tell you then. I sat in my darkened garage and opened the driver's door and looked over at the passenger side and I did not see the sill light come on, same when I switched sides.

Damnit. Its not a huge deal but I know that my current GS sill lights are ALWAYS on even when driving, but thats supposed to be normal apparently also not an issue as the GS sills are completely covered when shut so it doesn't really matter. Think it's cause they're spliced into the footwell lights and not the courtesy light. **(UPDATE)** I just got of the phone with Westminster Lexus and Newport Lexus and they're both telling me its normal and that both sills light up when any door is opened. The parts guy said they're supposed to do that since the footwell lights dim out instead of splicing them to the courtesy light which go out right when the door is shut.

I found this thread when I was searching for install instructions. Later I found a link to the Lexus PDF. You can get the instructions HERE

I have a brand new set, still in original packaging for anyone interested as well as an Apexi Throttle Controller (brand new as well).

This great!

However, sills (passenger side only so far) are lit up when door is open, but cuts when the door switch goes in.. but footlamp stays on and fades out after 12-15 seconds or so... why isnt the sill light doing the same?
any ideas?

After a bit of trouble shooting I found that the wire on pin 11 is the correct one. Also the diagram indicates there are 19 pins on that side, and on my car there are only 16. See the pic.
