Radar Detector

I mounted my V1 with the mirrotap. I bought the longer of the two sizes 12" I believe. Power was the blue cable in the mirror plug and ground was the white cable IIRC. I can snap some pics tomm if anyone needs them. Was very simple install.

If you are installing a V-1, I recommend you consider the Savy. Not only does it make installation an easy five minute process, it adds a nice feature of self muting alerts when the car is moving below a speed that you set on the device (which plugs into the car's OBD port, which provides the power and the speed info). I've taken apart a lot of cars to find the right switched power line for my detector, and blown a few fuses - this little add-on makes all that unnecessary.

Thanks I will do that, They list several different mounts when I follow that link. That's what I meant by having to take a peak behind the mirror

If you use the Escort Passport max or Max2, you need the BMX-2012 BlendMount. If you use any other escort or Beltronics detector, you need the BBE-2012 BlendMount. If you use the Valentine One detector, you need the BV1-2012 BlendMount. Regardless of which detector you use, you need the MT-2012 MirrorTap.
Everything comes apart pretty easy once you get the mirror off. Disconnect the plug from the mirror and you can take it to a bench to work on. The mirror tap goes into the connector that is on the mirror, and not the one coming from the roof.
Let me know if you need anything else.

The easiest way to get behind the mirror is to take the mirror off. You'll need a Torx bit, and I believe it is a #15 or #20. Once the mirror is disconnected you can get to everything. There is a plastic holder that goes around the mirror arm, and that needs to come off. It holds the connector wire from the car to the mirror in place, and hence the need for a couple of ty-wraps afterwards.
