Issues with SMS/Text/Email
Does anyone have a problem pairing their phone to have their text messages display when driving? I tried pairing both my phones (both androids S3 and HTC One), my S3 i could not get any texts or emails but my HTC One i was able to get emails but not texts. Wondering if its a firmware issue or compatibility with certain phones? Anywho, I made an appointment with the dealer and they said they would take a look.

I know for my iPhone I only get texts. I had to open the Bluetooth setting on my iPhone to enable this feature. It's most likely a compatibility issue. You can view the features of your device here:

I have an iPhone 5 and while driving, I am notified of a new message, and can have the car read it to me. I cannot view the message on the screen - instead I get an ironically long informational alert that text messages cannot be displayed on the screen while I am driving as it might distract me; this message is far longer than most of my incoming text messages.

I stopped by the dealer and after an hour of trouble shooting, the final solution was to delete all my text messages from my phone (backed it up first), deleted my personal settings from the audio system and started from scratch entirely and re-paired my phone. After doing all that, I am now finally able to receive texts.

I'm using both Samsung S3 and HTC One M8. Its strange how Android had such an issue. During the beginning, the tech took his blackberry out and did a test pairing onto my car before we wiped out all the settings and his blackberry paired perfectly fine with texts and emails. He did mention that for Android, the new Kit Kat version has been causing a problem for some others.

Co by..my understanding is that you just need to enable notifications in your Bluetooth settings. I have iPhone 4s and have not had any success in getting it to work
Is there anyone else out there using IPhone 4s who can say if it's working for them?

In case anyone is still interested, I have a 4S and tried to get this to work today. Works fine - meaning I can receive/read texts and have the car read them. No way to reply/send texts.
I wish there was a setting to just have the car automatically read the message - the system requires you to use trackpad/display to initiate.
You need to allow messaging notifications on the phone:
After the initial pairing is completed, and if applicable to your multimedia system, enable messaging features by accessing the phone's Bluetooth menu.
First, select the "Information" symbol to the right of the Connected system and turn on "Show Notifications"
Then, disconnect/reconnect the phone using the multimedia system's controls.
