im really interested in installing intake.
I have couple of question.

Which intake should i get?
There are couple of different takeda intakes for lexus rc. Can anybody link me the right one?

Whats maintaines work for the intake part?
Is there anything i have to do in terms of maintaining after i install intake?

Would like to hear this as well. There is a dry filter and the oiled filter. Any maf issues with those with oil?

Also, by where this sits any iaaue with rain or snow and hydrolocking the motor or does it not sit low enough to have this potential issue?

Hi Yooin14 & Jackals;

All the questions you asked I've answered in the thread, so here is a recap. No issue with hydro-lock as the CAI is in the engine bay and not in the lower fender. That being said if you don't drive into flooded waters then no issue.

When it comes time to clean the CAI (once per year) what I've done is get a clean bucket, put some Dawn in it (this removes all the oil from the filter) and fill it with hot water. Place the filter in the bucket so the open end is facing you. Leave in the bucket for about 2 hours, and skim off all the oil at the top.

Take out the nice clean filter and rinse off with a garden hose, but not under pressure. Let dry thoroughly, which might take awhile and do not use compressed air.

Spray the oil lightly on the filter to just cover all the folds. DO NOT OVER OIL as it will mess up the MAF sensor, and your car will run like cr*p.

The oiled filter actually flows more than the non-oiled one. The oiled CAI is also much better at filtering out particles.

Here is a link to briefly describe the difference between the two:

http://www.autoanything.com/air-inta...y-filters.aspx

Here is a link to the one that I bought from aFe Power:

http://afepower.com/shop/application_searchnew.php?keyword=Keyword%2FPart+Number&diesel=false&type=gas&make=Lexus&year=2015&model=RC+350&engine=3.5L&searchtype=combo&x=54&y=13

You can get it in crinkle black, which I have or chrome. Your preference.

Hope that helped.

You could if you want to waste money. These filters are designed to last over 10 years so cleaning and re-oiling would be cheaper. The filter has a band around it similar to a hose clamp that you unscrew.

I got an error code today of P0171

Do you think I received this error code because of the intake?

I did not unhook my battery when I installed the intake, should I reset the code and unhook the battery?

Edit:

I think I'm going to clean the MAF sensor first and see what happens after that

I don't think it was caused by the Intake. I would clean the MAF sensor, but make sure you use MAF sensor cleaner only. Once that is done reset the code if you have an ODBII code reader.

The only reason to unhook the battery is if the reset doesn't take or you've got the code error more than 3 times. The on-board computer tends not to reset if the code has received more than three times, and only by disconnecting the battery does it get cleared out.

I cleared the code. After about 20 min of driving I got the code back plus another one.

P0174 System too lean bank 2
P1170

not sure what the 1170 code is.

Should I put back my stock intake and take it to the dealer at this point?

I experienced an issue where the aftermarket Intake System had a minor air leak. After troubleshooting, I got a replacement intake and it worked fine. Yours may be imperfect or has become imperfect after initial install. Remove Intake and re-seat all the tubing, MAF and hose clamps. Then request a replacement unit if needed.

I would put the stock intake on, clear the codes and make sure it doesn't come back. If that is OK, then put the CAI on, and see if the codes come back. If they do then do as Radical350 suggested.

That's a great price. Pro Dry-S. Are there other options available?
