2016 Lexus RC 200t Headed to U.S. with Turbo-Four Engine
Well the waiting is over. The RC will be getting a turbo 4 cylinder for 2016.

Lexus estimates the RC at 0-60 ~7.5 seconds. That is so slow. Its like my minivan speed. They should have just offered the 350 as the lowest engine option.

Both cars have the same motor and the curb weight difference between the two models is only 220lbs (3,527lbs for the 2008 IS350 compared to 3,748lbs for the 2015 RC350) which shouldn't have left that big of a gap.
RC200t is also nearly 2 seconds slower from 0-60 compared to a similarly specced BMW 428i. I'm not sure what Lexus was thinking releasing the RC200t with figures such as this.

I'm wondering if the RC350 was using Sport+ and Full auto or manual mode shifting. I know when I am in Full auto mode the car is very slow to take off, but if I'm using the manual mode it is really quick to the point that the Trac Control light will flicker. That doesn't happen when in Full Auto mode.
A 6 speed Auto will also take off faster that an 8 speed auto as the 6 speed has a longer first gear whereas the 8 speed is made for fuel economy and shifts faster to the next gear. The 8 speed does not allow the car to rev up as much as the 6 speed. Most drag racing is done with a 2 speed auto just for that reason.
Ok, after watching the video the RC is not manually shifting and is in Full Auto mode, which is way slower. Try it yourself the next time you take your car out.

And they've actually confirmed that the RC200t F-Sport gets the sport shocks and Torsen LSD from the European F-Sport package? If so, awesome!

I don't know how they could not get the car to move faster. Mine will just about break the rear tires loose as evidenced by the Traction light flickering when in Sport + and manual mode using the paddle shifters. Maybe just really bad drivers who don't know how to get the most out of a car.

While I am slightly surprised, I'm not shocked.
The RC is a pig, and Lexus is not a performance oriented brand. The RC was created to fill a niche, just as the 200t being put into the RC and GS is to fill a niche. They needed a coupe to compete with the array of coupes offered by all of their competitors, and they needed a cheap small displacement engine with increased fuel efficiency so they can increase their CAFE rating and slide in another vehicle that can be their price leader.
I mean, this is a company that touts their F Sport line as something spectacular when it isn't more than an additional setting for some of the electronically controlled systems, wheels and a set of bumpers. Lexus is a price leader, not a performance leader.
