Goodbye to my RC.

Goodbye to my RC.
So I was driving home from work and was stopped at a left hand turn signal onto a main street in my town. It was a double turn lane and a Ford pickup was next to me so I could not see oncoming traffic. We pulled out and the pickup stopped all of a sudden next to me and I of course kept driving. When my window got past his front bumper I could see why he stopped. A 2000 Ford Windstar comes flying through the intersection and I can see her face as she tries to avoid hitting the front of my car. She misses with the front of her van but she was going pretty fast and she was essentially sliding toward me at that point and she caught me with the back/side. As you can see from the pictures, it essentially took off the whole front of the car. I was slammed into the side of the door and hit my head on the window pretty good and am dealing with some injuries to my shoulder and neck. The car is totaled and now I am dealing with how much they are willing to give me for the car. I did not have the insurance for which would have given me 20% more if totaled. Live and learn. So, I am going to move on from this and probably just pick up a Tacoma. Been a great car and I am going to miss it.

So unfortunate about you and your car. The other driver must have been travelling at a pretty good clip to just cleanly shear off the front of your car. Hope your shoulder and neck injuries heal and you end up with a vehicle you like.

Wow. That's just crazy. Glad you're okay enough to post & share the pic. Speedy recovery.
Reading what you've described, I wonder if the computers for the side-curtain air bags that senses impact on say the passenger's side and knows there's a person in the drivers seat would deploy to prevent you from impacting the door & window ?
Also you just raised my awareness of if another vehicle stops suddenly, from within my blind spot, then maybe I should slow down, just in case.
