You don't "need" the springs or the hardware kit if you are going to use the 3M tape as long as you don't mind lifting the lid a little or worrying about the spoiler flying off.
I know the 3M body tape is good stuff because we use it as the mounting tape for our Toyota and Lexus Secondary Air Injections System Bypass Modules and I have used it before on a few body panels.
However, I expect the spoiler can see a great deal of force and buffeting at highway speeds or faster so tape letting lose is just one of the last things I want to worry about.
If you got yours separate I would recommend getting the hardware and installing it according to the instructions. Part of the installation I didn't get pictures of was the shaped plastic spacers that go on the inside of the hood so the nuts and bolts don't deform the curved mounting lip of the trunk lid, again thinking there is some decent down force on the back edge of the spoiler at high speed.
If you are worried about drilling the holes correctly just get the template. You will also need a tube of body sealer on hand when you do it (luckily I already had an open tube). You will put a little bit around each mounting hole to seal it and the bare metal of the holes.
You can find the instructions online by searching the spoiler kit part number PT29A-24150-08, the 08 part is the paint code and in my case the supermica blue but you can omit the number in your search.
