Ride is too rough with tanabe springs
I had tanabe springs installed a few weeks ago, and at first they were great, but now I hear a ratteling noise every time I go over a bump at low speeds (sounds as if the springs are hitting the top of the shocks or something?)
my biggest problem with them is that they are too rough. I thought the car would ride similar to stock, but it's much much rougher than I thought.
anyone else with tanabe springs feel the same?
Im thinking about just biting the bullet and getting coilovers.
my priorities are 1) comfort 2) looks , I have zero intention of tracking this car. Anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks!!

Coils will ride a lot better than springs.
Looks will also be better as you can be lower.
Contact us for pricing.

I'm pretty happy with the drop that the tanabe springs provide, just not happy with the ride quality
what coilover type do you recommend for the best ride quality?

It took me about a month to get used to the ride quality when I first got my RC from GS. And when I had my tanabe springs installed; it took me about a week or two to get used to the ride quality.

Thanks!
What would go into that? Not really into the slammed look, just want to get rid of the gap. What set up would you recommend, I want to do it right the second time, so willing to spend whatever

I've been on tanabes for over a year and do not feel the same way about my ride quality experience. These springs have nearly identical stock spring rates. I've felt the difference sure, and on occassion if I hit a really really big pot hole, it wont feel too good but the ride quality is still fantastic. The only difference I feel -> is a more connected ride to the ground and overall better driving experience. At stock it felt like every other lexus which floats on clouds. With the tanabes, I just felt enough of the road to be satisfied without sacrificing (IMO) any ride quality really. It still drives, handles as smooth as my lexus did before the drop for the most part.
Additionally I would add, if you are considering bags, do your research. Bags aren't the greatest in colder climates. Also they are for looks, not performance. And you will be tearing your lexus up to install them...not saying it cant be done semi-clean...but I prefer not to is all. I second coilovers but usually wait till shocks go out before getting a set. I'm sorry your experience with the tanabes was so bad but I hope this helps others still considering them.

SInce moving from Tanabe springs to J5 coilovers, the ride on my car is much improved. Many of the harsh bumps I would cringe at going over with the springs have softened up considerably with the coil overs, despite the coilovers having much stiffer spring rates. Coil overs > lowering springs.
