Default Parking sensor issues

My 2015 RC parking sensors just went to crap on me. On cluster says to clean. Sensors, the nav screen shows to check Lexus park assist and have dealer check etc. Did research on here and found people have similar issues. Most all said damage to sensor like a rock etc cause this and only. Fix is to replace it. Took it to stealerships Lexus and they say it' not that, but want to remove both bumpers and look further into it. Says car is throwing code U0233 "lost communication with blind spot detection control". Wants to charge me $870 to troubl shoot because of the labor involed etc to remove bumper. Told them to eat a d!$%. Car is still at lex right now while deciding what to do. I did notice 1 sensor is chipped by a rock but they say that isnt it without attempting to swap it out etc. Pissed right now. Anyone else experience this?

Why not try replacing the one with a rock chip with a cheap ebay parking sensor and see if that works first.

UPDATE: I insisted to the stealership to just replace the damaged sensor as we requested and if it fixer it great if not, whatever. My GF was the one who called insurance and Lexus to set this all up for her RC. They told her the initial inspection fee was $180, to determine the problem. Our deductible is $250 parts and labor with 1 year warranty is $607 plus tax. Insurance paid the rest because it was road damage to the sensor. We are either out $180 and get nothing out of it or $250 and at least we get a new sensor out of it. Wouldn' you know it, as per other people' experiences it sure did fix the issue. Bone heads! They wanted us to pay $870 to TRY and figure out the problem then probably replace the main sensor control unit which would cost god knows how much. I can' stand these people and their methods. I do all my own car work but the GF didn' want to inconvenience me, so she superseded me and did this. Lesson learned... So fyi, a rock chip to the sensor will cause your whole system to go nuts.

that WAS my plan but GF had other ideas. I was skeptical of a cheap Chinese $60 sensor though....

I have seen them as low as $15-30, cheap enough to just give it a try, if not you are not out too much money.
