Test drove a 2015 RC 350 F-sport with 51k miles. How much in terms of cost value does the CPO warranty add vs say a non Lexus dealer? I had slight concerns as the maintenance history was incomplete through the CarFax. Nothing before 30k miles and nothing that the dealer could provide. Should that be a concern as the dealer indicated that during the CPO process that if the car had any issues then it would have never been certified? As the car will be a 3rd car for me and my wife it will only get about 3k - 5k in miles per year. Does the CPO process truly weed out any questionable cars? It would be a low use car for me as my primary driver is a Toyota Tundra. If it was a primary driver, I would never buy a car with 50k miles. Thanks

Couple of things:
50k miles is NOTHING on a Lexus, that wouldnt stop me from the purchase if the price was right
If the car is CPO, everything is covered for two years, so why worry? You can even extend it out up to another 3 years if you like
Cost value? Typically dealers add between 2k-3k extra for CPO vehicles. Its worth it for the peace of mind IMO. I recently purchased a CPO rc350 with similar mileage.

Counterpoint from experience: True that 50K on a Lexus is nothing, but if the previous owner didn't change the oil frequently enough or do proper maintenance, there is no car out there that will withstand that kind of neglect/abuse without issues. Personally, I would take a non-cpo car that had all the correct maintenance records over a cpo car with no records. That being said, always have an independent mechanic check the vehicle you are thinking about buying, as the dealerships are known to cover up issues in order to get inventory off the lot.

Appreciate the response. I had a chance to look at the CPO report and the section for putting the car on the hoist and looking at it from underneath was not done. Better to spend a little more money on one with all the detailed maintenance records. Thanks
