Default What fuel grade is everyone using on their RC?

It's time for me to do my first fill up and I was curious if there is a preferred gas for our cars. I used premium Shell and Chevron in my coupes in the past.

Premium Chevron in mine. Close to my house, goes in everything I have. Regular in my truck though, it's a V6 and it's old and runs on it well.

Premium 93, normally Exxon. Would have no issue with Shell, BP, etc.

The "grade" is the octane rating. My RC book says it wants 91, but Shell and BP sell 89 and 93, so I fill with 93, but when I have the chance (and the time) when the tank is at about the one/half mark, I'll fill it up with 89 to save a few bucks and get a tank of 91. The car will run on a tank of 89, of course, but the computer will adjust, performance will drop, and the mpg will go down somewhat. From what I understand, you won't save any money by doing that. Use the octane rating prescribed for your engine, or higher.
As for "what fuel grade everyone is using," I don't think there is an answer for that.

^^^^The reason your "RC book says it wants 91" is because those of us in the West get the 91 octane CRAP gas that's specified for California I would dearly luv our premium to be 93 octane Do yourself a favor and run 93, your RC will run better and will thank you for it.

I've only see 93 and up in a few select areas with higher income or by places with tracks near by lol.

I'd love to try 93 at some point.

91 or 93 around here, can't really tell much between the 2 of those. If you get real skippy, we have some
110 right down the road, I ain't running that in the RC. It does run good in my motorcycle mixed with the 93
though. But, no 110 in the RC.

I always use premium, but I'm not particularly brand loyal, I just make sure the station has top tier fuel.
