Question Transmission Fluid Question

Hi Everyone,

I have a 2016 RC 200t with 30k miles on it.
I was told to change the brake fluid, rear differential oil, and do a transmission oil flush.
I am planning to replace the brake fluid and rear differential oil. But I am not sure if I need to replace the transmission oil since its not clearly stated in the manual and it also seems like it is "lifetime" and "sealed." Any thoughts?

I would change the transmission fluid, oil brakes down over time.

Just don't follow the dealership's recommended service schedule, it will have thousands of dollars of services you don't need.
Follow the manufacturer's service schedule. They spent millions of dollars figuring out the proper maintenance for you vehicle, the dealership didn't spend a dollar.

As a precaution, if you plan on keeping your car long, take the manufacturer's recommendation and half it. Their OCI is 10k, do 5.

For trans, I'd at least do a regular partial drain and fill of the pan. All oil breaks down. Transmissions are complex and get hot. New fluid>old fluid.

I have to disagree with this sentiment. I used to send my oil off to Blackstone Labs on cars in the past. At 7k-9k miles they still had nearly 3-5k more of life left so halving that is doing nothing more than wasting money and putting that much more into being recycled and processed.

No, always change 5k.

120K is really nothing with our cars. The deterioration that TheCarCareNut was saying starts beyond 150K. He's basically saying if you want the engine to last past 300K miles easy, do 5K/6 months intervals instead of 10K/12 months.

But if 10K intervals works with you car, then there is no reason to change it.

Default Brown fluid

I waited til 50k miles to change my transmission fluid. (Yesterday). You know, because its a lifetime fluid. It came out brown like oil. I thought at first that I drained the wrong thing, like a gear box or something. Then I investigated if Lexus transmission fluid was brown. Nope, it just needed to be changed really bad. I ran 3 gallons thru it, still has a brownish tint. I will need to change it again next oil change.

I waited til 100k miles with my G37. It came out red. So, wasn’t expecting this on the Lexus.

I wish I changed it at 30k miles now.
