4X4 CA Android Screen
After researching to replace the OEM screen on my 2016 RC350 F-Sport, I decided to take the plunge and ordered the Android unit from 4X4. Lexion seems like the better unit but given their lack of customer support, I went with 4X4.
It took almost 3 weeks from order to delivery since they were out of stock when I ordered it. Once it was shipped, it got to my house in 4 working days.
The installing was easy. Taking my time, it took about 1.5 hr. The hardest part was running the main cable from the head unit the screen. There is only 1 way to plug everything in so it's pretty dummy proof. You do have to install the gps antenna so it has a view of the sky if you want the clock to work. I ran it the back window sill so it is out of sight if you're sitting in the front. The signal is strong with no issues.
The main reason I wanted to replace the screen is to get Carplay. It is wireless. I wanted Carplay to start automatically every time I start the car, so I downloaded an app called Auto Start Manager. Now, once I start the car, it will start Carplay automatically and connect with the phone in my pocket. Everything works just as they should. I also want to mention that they got rid of the small external speaker. All audios (include navigation from Google Maps, Waze, etc) are channeled to the factory speakers. If you have music playing, the volume will lower and you will hear the navigation audio.
But there is a couple of issues. First is the OEM touch pad. 4X4 says you can retain use the OEM touch pad. On the Lexus OEM menus, it works fine - just like before. But on the Android side, it is VERY laggy. Almost to the point of unusable. I don't want to keep touching the screen since it leaves finger prints so I added an external touchpad and that solved the issue. Very happy with the results there.
The second issue is still ongoing with 4X4. The OEM menu is not on center - it is shifted slightly to the right. If you look at the "back" button, you cannot see the right side of the button. 4X4 is working on it. I also like to mention that their support is outstanding! I have been emailing them questions and they answered all of them within 24hrs.
Aside from the minor issues, I love the unit! The display is so clear and high def compared to the original. If you're on the fence, do it!

I'll see if I can get a video this weekend. The start up time for the Android menu to load is pretty quick. It's less than 1 minute. Connecting to CarPlay takes a bit longer. But I think it's under 2 minutes from starting the car to CarPlay loaded and playing music.
The back up camera works almost immediately after starting the car.

For the unit: https://4x4shop.ca/product/2014-2019...sb-multimedia/
For the touchpad:
For some reason, the touchpad is unavailable. You don’t have to use the exact same one. Any mouse/touchpad/trackball type input should work….as long as it’s USB.
