Terrible rattle
I have a very loud rattle that is absolutely ruining the experience of this car for me. It’s so loud I can hear it over music.
it only happens while driving. It’s coming from the rear, I believe it’s either by the brake light or rear parcel shelf. It definitely isn’t the sunroof.
does anyone have any advice on this?? It’s driving me CRAZY

It is likely the rear speaker metal grill/shelf - You should have a dealer look at it. Many have had issues with that area in the past.

Interesting, I didn't consider that it could be from the speaker cover. Don't the speakers have some sort of foam around them to prevent the cover from touching the speaker?

^^ I am not sure of the insulation it has, but there are some folks who will be able to provide you that info. All I know is that I have read some posts on the rear parcel shelf rattling on these cars so that is my guess on the case but it is hard to say for sure by simply reading a post online....But the fact it is coming from the rear, that is the 1st thing that came to mind

maybe you or someone else can sit in the back while the other person drives so you can pinpoint the location a bit more. had a horrible rattle in the sienna until i sat in the back and my wife drove. took me a few minutes to narrow it down.

Pretty most every rattle I've ran across in my cars was from some stuff I had in there.
Try removing everything in the car (in the back being that's where it seems to be from)
and then access the sound. I one time had a friend of mine ride in the trunk of an ES
I had trying to find a noise. That was a good friend too. We found the rattle, it was a speaker
in the rear "hat rack" and got that resolved thankfully. Wish you luck.

it wouldn’t surprise me if the previous owner did something, I found one rattle from them breaking a clip by the driver footwell. I assume that happened when they installed a remote start system (which is nice to have, but it’s annoying that the car shuts off when the door is opened)

I got two rattles currently right now in my RC. It's driving me crazy. Got one which appears to be the passenger door speaker and the rear rattle, which initially I thought was the headliner. They both seemed to be triggered by certain songs I'll play. Even at lower volume, still does it.

If there's openings from below, say where the speakers/sub sit, you can try stuffing a rag or something between the shelf and the chassis to see if the extra upward force silences the rattle. then you know your answer. (just as a quick test)

It seems like the rattle is gone, but I can't say exactly why. I believe it was possibly due to the passenger seat, my gf moved the seat forward and I haven't heard the rattle since.
