RC F automotive reviews thread

Great positive, I think. I love the fact that RC-F has a high strung engine and not really a negative in my book.
They praise the RC-F performance, but only criticize its daily drivability. I will take it.

In all fairness, it is quite difficult for these reviewers to master the F in a brief driving experience, and many of the reviews reflect a lack of familiarity with regard to driving the F.

This is the first video so far showing how it accelerates in higher speeds. It actually goes pretty well over 100 mph ( 160 km/h ) which is (much ) more important than 0-60 to me at least. It looks pretty "heavy" in the start.

Well, he simply stomped it from idle so it is not a fast start, obviously.
The other issue I saw was that he was short shifting in most gears sometimes shifting as low as 6600 - 6700 rpm. He should really be shifting near the 7300 rpm redline as the torque curve suggests.

Grudge match: Lexus RC F vs BMW M4

Final conclusion :
In the end, I’m as confused as I was before putting these two together — I’d driven them in isolation and that was easy. I’m not merely trying to be diplomatic here — diplomacy is just scented rubbish anyway — and even my editor Amit lambasted me for my concluding argument…
I’d probably take the RC F...
It makes you feel like a hero more of the time. Yaguchi may be on to something here, with his “everyone can drive it” chant — and they can — very, very fast. It’s slower than a turbocharged M product, yes, but it’s still got a 5.0-litre V8. I can push the RC F damn near flat-out everywhere, while the M4 is actively trying its best to spit me off every mountain road just out of spite, just to prove my driving licence doesn’t say Hans-Joachim Stuck, just to show it’s better. If you want a Lexus, the Lexus is twice as good as the BMW. If you want a real sports coupé, the BMW is twice as good as the Lexus.

I think it shifts perfectly, there is really no reason to hold the first or second gear longer. Few people knows how to shift proper in manual mode anyway, I dont know how many videos I have seen where people hits the rev limiter again, again and again....

Overall I thought the article was accurate, and the author's personal choice will be in line with those who prefer accessibility over performance.
IMO,I think you highlighted the wrong part of the concluding paragraph:
"If you want a Lexus, the Lexus is twice as good as the BMW. If you want a real sports coupé, the BMW is twice as good as the Lexus."

Ah I knew that this article would bring out the BMW apologists
But I feel that this is also worth highlighting :
Seems like Lexus built the better driver's car while BMW built the better widowmaker
Ultimately it seems like the critical consensus is that the RC-F is better for 99.9% of the general car enthusiast population while the M4 is better for those 0.1% who are actual professional race car drivers or those insecure individuals who need a mechanical proxy for proving their manhood on the internet/BMW forums.
