The article is full of errors. He dissed Yaguchi's philosophy of "high-revs and the noise" for all the wrong reasons. RC-F does not rev 300 rpm higher than the IS-F. It is 500 rpm.

RC-F is not "over 200 KG" heavier than the M4. The difference is not even close to that on all test cars. It is about 400 lbs, which is about 180 KG max.

RC-F's torque is far more consistent in real world dynos than that of the M4. Although, M4 gets all its torque at low rpms, it falls on its face after 6000 rpm very hard and already down to 68% by the time it is at 6500 rpm while RC-F is still producing 89% of its peak torque at 7100 rpm.

I read this as an emotional perspective on two rivals. It would appear that there is more German than Japanese bias, and we all know ISF001 can be accused of leaning in the opposite direction.

His reviews were significantly off the mark, and it is partially due to Lexus' decision to provide limited performance vehicles at Monticello. In the end, there is strong evidence that the RC F may very well be the faster of the two on a track.

As was the case with the IS F, the drivers will make the ultimate difference in most measurements.

I do not find it difficult to coexist with fine competitors. I do find it difficult when an editor loses perspective on what is happening on the track, despite unquestionable evidence to the contrary. German enthusiasts can't cope with the close proximity in performance, IMO.

Again and again, we will see plenty of competitive runs soon.

Most drivers in the real world will find low end torque more enjoyable than having to wring the engine into the stratosphere. Especially since that's where we spend most of our time...

The IS F does not come alive until 3,500 rpm. Revving up to 5,000 rpm is not stratospheric for my daily commute.

Indeed, if the potential buyer will not have ample opportunity to kick the new beast to where it is designed to be driven, a standard RC is probably a wiser choice.

Wear headphones! The audio in this video was recorded with in-ear binaural microphones. With headphones or earbuds on, you'll feel like you're actually sitting in the driver's seat.

This video is an excellent exploration of the capabilities of the new F on the road and the track. It made me all the more anxious to get my F in early March.

So basically the RC-F will please 99% of the car enthusiasts while the M4 will fatigue most non-professional drivers due to its unpredictability at the limit?

Got it...

I think it is a good review nonetheless. They say RC-F is only for "the hardcore enthusiast". I like that.

The picture of the autocar article 05Rolla posted on 12/24 basically said the same thing. Here is the link to the full article.
