Lexus ISF Pedal Dance

"The vehicle dynamics integrated management (VDIM) system automatically prevents excess wheel spin and fishtailing. If you deactivate the system by pushing the dash button, the system automatically comes back on after exceeding 30 mph. The overly protective Toyota designers probably did this to reduce our insuance rates, but it's just no fun. If Toyota wants to really compete with BMW, then it needs to allow drivers to make more decisions and assume the risks of driving.

If you wish to temporarily disable the VDIM completely, Toyota programmed a work-around. This "cheat code" will disable the VDIM until the car is truned off.

1. Start the car with the parking brake on.

2. Keeping the parking brake on, push (or tap) the foot brake twice

3. Keeping the foot brake down, push (or tap) the parking brake twice

4. Repeat untill the sliding car warning light appears on the dash

Normally, only two cycles (foot - parking - foot - parking) are required. With practice, you can disable the VDIM in under 4 seconds."

So I believe the long hold of traction control off in the RCF achieves same thing. No traction control, and no VDIM. I've heard that pedal dance turns off the e-LSD on the ISF too. Not too sure about what else RCF turns off in this "secret mode".

Like the RC F, the IS F has multiple modes. A short push on the button turns off the traction control until you exceed 30 mph and it automatically re-engages. If you hold the button until the VSC off light is solid, you enter VSC defeat mode. If you perform the pedal dance, you lose VSC and eLSD functions (not guessing, I have done it and fully tested it at the track). It is impossible to turn VDIM off. Ever. VDIM the controller for the entire suite of VSC, eLSD, TRAC, EBFD, ABS, and Brake Assist. You cannot turn off ABS or brake assist without removing fuses and going into a limp mode.

The only time it makes sense to do the pedal dance in the IS F is at the track after you have installed a clutch type limited slip spool - Cusco, ATS, or OS Giken - NOT a factory Torsen because a factory Torsen is just an open spool differential that works like a limited slip differential when both rear tires have traction. As soon as traction goes to zero on one rear wheel, your Torsen will behave identically to an open diff. AMHIK.

What would be interesting to find out about the RC F is what the "super secret" mode disables. I am really curious how much of the car Lexus will give you in this mode.
