This is completely misleading information. There is NO self-restoring coating on ANY vehicle, period! On Lexus paint, there is NO self-restoring coating on any color or any model.

The technology is there but is not used commercially yet. From my understanding, ONLY CARPRO company has this coating technology called "Immortal" but that is not released yet.

I would not allow anyone wash my car other than me. On my previously owned IS-F I used Meguires products in conjunction with the Xpel paint protection film which was applied to my entire hood, front bumper, mirrors and and behind the door handles. I had superior results and countless comments on how pristine my paint was at car shows. Now that I am in a USB RC-F, I am taking a slightly different approach. Once my car comes out of research and development, I will apply the CQuartz paint correction and the Xpel paint protection film.

Then why do they publish this in the owners manual? I don't think they would print something that is false.

Please scan and show me. Are you saying that Lexus paint has self restoring ability and will have no swirl/scratch? Really?

You can do simple test, just use a microfiber towel to clean off the dust dry couple times. I will guarantee you have minor swirl regardless Lexus claim of so called "self restoring" paint lol.

I agree with your big question mark on just how deep a swirl/scratch it will restore. I will be getting XPEL and a coating from my detailer (not from my Lexus Dealer).

User manual about 1/2 way down the page or search for Cleaning and protecting the vehicle exterior.

http://drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/do.../sec_07-01.pdf

My lexus dealer could not give me any info on this Lexus clear coat feature.

I am not a troll just pulling this out of my azz. Not sure if you want to seal the car.

■ Self-restoring coat*
The vehicle body has a self-restoring coating that is resistant to small surface scratches
caused in a car wash etc.
● The coating lasts for 5 to 8 years from when the vehicle is delivered from the plant.
● The restoration time differs depending on the depth of the scratch and outside temperature.
The restoration time may become shorter when the coating is warmed by applying
warm water.
● Deep scratches caused by keys, coins, etc. cannot be restored.
● Do not use wax that contains abrasives.
*: CFRP parts (if equipped) do not have a self-restoring coat

I have never went all out like this but always wanted too. If you are in Atlanta once I get the car and get it detailed you can try the stuff out.

Sorry guys if I sound kind of harsh on my previous post but I just find it too good to be true. Wow thank you very much for sharing the information. This is super interesting and I just heard this the very first time! It does really sound too good to be true but it comes from Lexus's manual... hmmm

I want to see how the paint on your car actually holds up. Please keep the community updated.

I have some questions for you guys:
1. Is this "self restore" property default on all RCF paint??
2. How deep of the scratch does it actually prevent?
3. In case of collision (not saying it will happen), who can re-paint your car with this "self restore" feature??

4. Is it similar to Carpro Immortal performance like the video below:

No idea but this kind of changes the way you will detail the car, no clay bar no polishing and just a sealant and then a good wax it seems after talking to The Chemical Guys.

I am going to call Lexus and see what they say and I hope to get someone who has a clue lol.
