I will find out what I can. I am not an engineer/mechanic "type" person but will ask some questions. When I was there this morning, the Service Mgr said the update takes about 30-35 minutes. He mentioned it will increase the idle speed and something about Lexus had to get some sort of EPA approval so it took time. I will let you know.

Got a copy of this from my dealer -

The Service Bulletin entitled 'Abnormal Noise from Low Pressure Fuel Pump' from the QAPowertrain Department has just been published in English. This English version of the document has also been made available for TIS users whose language preference is set to Spanish until the translated version becomes available.

Publication_Number: 'L-SB-0031-16'.

Vehicle Applicability: ''15-'16 RC F, 16' GS F'.

T3_ID: '16-TMS-0039-L'.

So I am now wondering if they will will apply this to all RC F and GS F vehicles...or only those showing the vehicle condition?

As I've suspected and mentioned before, the noise is caused by too low duty cycle when at idle. The software update is most likely a re mapped pump control, basically higher duty cycle at lower rpm's. It shouldn't affect performance at all.

I had to work late but ran over to pick up car. The fuel pump noise is gone. Service manager said he will check back with me in a couple of days. All he mentioned is that the idle speed was increased. It is not noticeable. He is going to check if he can get me additional information about what other changes were involved with the software update. The work order sheet only states "calibrated ECU". I will let everyone know what I hear.

Hey guys, I just picked up my car from the dealership after they reprogrammed my ECU and the fuel pump noise has gone away for now. Hope this is the cure for this problem.

Finally, after over 5 months of letter writing, emails, phone calls and a lot of waiting...I drove my car without hearing my fuel pump noise. Only been one day but I am keeping a positive attitude. I mentioned that the Service Manager said the software upgrade increased the RPMs at idle. In park, it used to idle at about 625-650. Now it idles around 725-750, while in park. When the car is in gear and a foot on the brake, the idle is about where it was previously....625.

It shouldn't.

Lexus Master Tech here,

I was informed that the update simply increases the voltage to the fuel pump enough to stop the noise.
