Seems like i saw something about the lemon laws in one of those handbooks that came with our cars. I think it said something in there about different lemon laws in different states, which i'm assuming you would have to check out your own state. GL, but that would definitely start to be getting very OLD going back & forth to the Dealership

Getting mine replaced this week. Lexus techs are coming out to take picoscope data. From what the tech has told me, the pump in the RC-F is a new model with a variable 3 setting range. He and the tech speculates that there may be a voltage issue with the pump or to the pump.

I've also noticed some starting issues when I park on a incline or decline. Don't know if it's related but I'm going to bring it up.

Was your pump making the whirring noise everyone is talking about or did your car have actual startup issues that caused you to take the car in?

And can you clarify if the tech is telling you that there is a new spec part for the RCF? What would cause a voltage issue?

Correct. The RC-F utilizes a new 3 stage pump versus (I assume) the 2 stage pump from the ISF. He says Lexus has been having issues with this specific pump and it's electronics. Not sure if it's been superseded by a newer part. It's doing both, with actual startup issues, irregular acceleration when I press on the gas, and a slight whirring noise after cold start - typically right before the RPM drop.

Hey folks, may I ask the tech-oriented folks here if our RC-Fs have one or two fuel pumps? With both port and direct FI, I'd imagine there're 2 (high and low pressure), but curious. I also would like to know if the car has 16 injectors (8+8), or just the 8 DI (high pressure) ones, plus a couple of port ones upstream each bank, just for idle and to spray some fuel into the back of the valves to avoid carbon build-up. Thanks.

Another owner with a fuel pump issue.
I took my car to the dealer today with the whirring noise some here have experienced. Car has about 4400 miles on it.
After checking a number of things, they disconnected the fuel pump fuse with the car idling. The car continued to idle and the noise went away. So they are satisfied that it is a fuel pump related issue, but not sure yet they say if the pump needs to be replaced, repaired or it is something else in the circuit.
They are going to contact Lexus directly and the field tech specialist.
In the meantime they said drive the car and they will keep me updated and address the issue when they have some direction from Lexus. I am a bit apprehensive about "just drive the car...", but in fairness I have not experienced any loss of power or delayed acceleration or starting issues.
Does anyone here know if there have been any outright failures of the fuel pump resulting tin the car being disabled or whether this issue will not cause pump failure. Like others here have stated, no one wants to suffer an outright failure of the fuel pump.
Any input will be appreciated and I will keep this board updated.

Guess it's obvious the car has 2 fuel pumps, and the car idles on the port injector(s) only. Otherwise engine would have died quickly upon fuse removal. My other question is where is the DI fuel pump, to look for that 'whirring' noise? And finally, it'd help a lot to include your BUILD DATE (on door jamb VIN label) if having pump issues, to know if our cars might be affected by that. Hope this issue is fully documented and a fix in place if my car develops it (only 400 miles so far). Thanks.

Bought my car in Nov. of 2014-- first one sold by my dealer. Clearly an early build date.
Fuel pump is in the gas tank. Not any information yet if Lexus sourced the fuel pumps from one or more manufacturers or who manufactured the pump in my car.

My build date is 11/14. Anyone else getting decreased throttle responsiveness when in 2nd as a result of the new fuel pump?

Hi, purchased my RCF about a month ago used from Lexus dealer. I rarely drive the car and I can't be definite but when I floor the gas from a complete stop the car does not respond immediately. Could this be fuel pump related or this is normal?

Hi - I posted on this thread on page 3 about 4 months ago with my first fuel pump failure at 3,400 miles. The dealer replaced the fuel pump and I am as happy as a clam. Now at 6,000 miles and the fuel pump is humming again. The car drives fine, but you do notice a difference to power delivery and throttle response. Stomp on the gas pedal at 2-3K rpm and you will wait at least 1 second for the car to react. Anyhow, it is in at the dealership where they will replace it again. Two down. Anyone know if they have updated the fuel pump yet? If Lexus does not issue a recall soon this is just going to happen and waste more of my time

As mine was replaced just a couple weeks ago, and I'm still noticing throttle response is still laggy, I assume no.

Nope the part # has not be superseded as of yet..

And for Lexus' sake, I seriously hope it doesn't take them much longer to get the new pump worked out..!!
