Forged Wheels (Vossen, Velgen, VMR, HRE, Forgiato, Who Else)?

For these new TE37 Ultra Track Edition wheels, Volk integrated a special manufacturing process in with these wheels where they add pockets on the inside of the wheels to save weight and increase structural rigidity. In the first photo below, you can see the pocketing on the inner sides of the spokes where they take out excess material to save weight. The design and engineering of these pockets also allow them to produce an extra rigid spoke design for added strength. These are the same wheels Varis is running on their demo car RC-F in Japan. See below...

My TE37 Ultras came in at 23 lbs for the 20x11. Considerably lighter than the OEM 19's

I'm a little biased (because I own them) but an often overlooked manufacturer (and rarely mentioned), for, in my opinion, what are some of the best wheels out there are TWS Forged (not to be confused with TSW). They manufacture the TRD wheels for the IS-F an you can see them on many pics of the IS-F CCSR and RC-F CCSR.

TWS (Taneisya) private labels wheels for quite a few Japanese tuning companies. Great quality and engineering.

But what's the TOTAL weight comparison? Tire is going to wipe that difference out, or maybe even more. Why not 19s? Some folks are obsessed with the largest wheel possible, but that's hardly ever the best choice for anything except looks... and only to some: I don't like the look of cars what seem to be riding on the wheels, with hardly any tire in there. Race cars don't have a 25 or 30 profile tire for a reason. Plus it's extremely easy to damage the wheel with those, car rides like a freaking brick, and are much more expensive (and hard to get) to boot. But to each his own, I guess.

Never understand the reasoning for a non functional setup but then again I am a fan of daily driving my car with the occasional track day. I mean after all THIS IS a Lexus forum, so I knew coming into it that most owners would care about looks and car shows which is fine but I prefer a 19" (or depending on the car 18") wheel with a beefier sidewall. I grabbed a set 255/285 Michelin Pilot Super Sports and just need to find a decent set of wheels now!
But like you said, to each his own..
