I've had a V-1 for about 8 yrs, getting ready to send it in for the upgrade because mine doesn't have the option of turning off K-band. I drove across country recently and just about every big rig on the road was lighting up K-band, I assume it's adaptive cruise control that's doing it. I have noticed for quite a while that police radar is almost entirely Ka band. Just FYI, there is a pretty interesting book about police radar and how it is used, a bit dated but still very informative, "Driver's Guide to Police Radar"

Valentine lovers will hold on to what they have. The Max 360 works like a champ, and it's not my first detector. There are plenty of excellent reviews out there. The $700 price tag is going to thin the herd of buyers I am sure. It's already paid for itself within the first week of use. However, Escort will
Pay tickets for the next 1.5 years, if you get any...and I doubt it.

My friends who have Valentine complain about all of the false alerts.

I was just curious what others are using. Enjoy the Valentine. My advise to anyone looking is buy the Max 360. I had the 9500ix--a great unit. The Max 360 is phenomenal in its ability to increase your awareness of the environment faster than the 9500ix. Escort Live is invaluable if you want to access the observations of other drivers in your locality.

This video shows how it works with multiple threats.

Being as that Hawaii is one of the laser only states, I'm super curious to hear from anyone running a laser jammer setup.

I would also be interested. I ran one on my S4 and it worked well, but for the rcf, where would you mount it? Intructions say at the same level of the headlights, but I wouldnt want to cut the grille

I had one on my Saleen. I had the two black boxes mounted directly behind the grill (headlight level) with the rear black box mounted right underneath the center exhaust. The cluster was then mounted right in the dash above the speedo/tach. I don't believe it's legal here in CA but my car came with it when I purchased it private party out of FL. I rarely used it on the streets but the few times I did, IT WORKED.

I wish I would have pulled it out of the car when I sold it a few months back but it seemed to be too much of a hassle. I looked up the unit and it was not cheap, around $1500. Coulda, woulda, shoulda...

FWIW, I don't have a Valentine, I did watch a LOT of videos testing of all the top of the line detectors against one another. At the end of the day as long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters. I'm in the market for one next year (I live in VA, they are illegal here) so I'll be following your thread to see how it's working for you. Enjoy and keep us updated on how it's working against the Po Po.

Also, for those that use iOS, Android or Windows phones, check out an app called WAZE.

Here is the description of the App:

So, how does it work?: After typing in their destination address, users just drive with the app open on their phone to passively contribute traffic and other road data, but they can also take a more active role by sharing road reports on accidents, police traps, or any other hazards along the way, helping to give other users in the area a 'heads-up' about what's to come.

As it pertains to this topic, I tried this out two weeks ago on a 3.5hr commute on the highway. It showed where all of the users saw "Cops" hidden ticketing speeders. It was about 75% accurate (remember, cops do move from time to time) which was sweet. When I started to see that someone reported a cop, I slowed to the speed limit, looked for the cops and BAM, there they were. HTH

Escort Live is WAZE on steroids, IMO. The Max 360 sniffed out a new speed camera installed over the weekend. I was skeptical until it lockd the signal. It was detected well in advance of the threat. It gave me a count down in feet to the new speed camera and it was right on.

All that matters is that a detector works and filters out the spurious signals. The Max 360 is intelligent. It learns quickly and shows the false threats silently in gray.

You're getting me wanting to buy one. Last night after watching the video you posted, and then reading a review by VORTEX (he test a lot of radar detectors) on Amazon, I almost pulled the plug and bought one. I'm trying to be patient, lol.

[QUOTE=ISF001;9281373
At this point I have to recommend the unit to those in the market for this kind of device.[/QUOTE]

IS001: did you mount the Max 360 right close under your mirror? If so did you attach power from the mirror? I wonder because in California you can not attached anything to the front window but might not be an issue for you back east.

If you mounted it up high under the mirror did you have to move it forward to get good GPS signal strength? I would think, with the CF roof that you have, that the GPS signal should be pretty strong.

Where do you mount your phone for the Escort app usage?

These are the things I used except the Mirror Tap because I didn't know about it until after my seat didn't work. lol!

If you don't want the hardwire cord, this is the alternate to Hardwire Cord as suggested by ThaDRD
