Default Jacking point

Shop I went to used the front control arms to jack the car up on the lift. Is that ok?

Car seems fine but want to see if that was okay

Umm. probably depends on which part of the control arm. If it's right at the outer end under the shock mounting point or the hub carrier, it probably didn't do anything bad. But I wouldn't do it right under one of the inner bushing ends.

No that's a silly move by the Shop..

Per the Owners Manual, below are the Approved Floor Jacking Points..

I think op said by a lift so these points wouldn't work, right?

Yup it was a lift.

My PSS got a tear in it so I went ahead and swapped to my winter tires , alittle earlier than I would have liked to since the temps in DC are forecasted to be pretty warm. Winter tires plus warm weather = zero grip it's horrible

Correct... For the car lift that's even worse..

They are supposed to use the frames or pinch rail area..

Using the proper lift arm pad like so, will prevent any damage.

I've been lifting or jacking cars since 1995, I've never needed to use the control arms.

That's only for jacking from a central location. Not for holding the car in the air, where you need 4 outward locations. This is the first car I see without suitable places to put either jack stands or jack pads under suspension components, and have owned many with control arms. Resting car over the pinch welds where the regular jack is supposed to be used can be risky without channel adapters to avoid bending them. Until an actual owner (not Joe Z) tries that, I'm not going to. Having said that, have seen pictures of a few RC-Fs on the air with lift pads at locations next to the pinch welds (but NOT the pinch welds) very near the tires. Will scrutinize them later, and if suitable, will probably buy flat-top jack stands I've been eyeing for some time.

If anyone doesn't want to read this next post.... Please remember to add me to their IGNORE LIST

Once again using proper lift arms with proper semi hard rubber pads, this is how you safely lift the RC F

ZERO damage on my good friends brand spanking new car..!!!

This is the F we actually worked under for the unveiling of the PTS Exhaust.

Here's another Lexus F that was just a tad bit harder to properly setup on the Lift.

HINT: This one is a Nürburgring Edition And yes I worked on it as well..

Happy modding..!!

Yeah those are the same jack points you would use to swap in the non-existent RC F spare tire if you got a flat...

I don't know about you but I have to drive my car up on some 1" x 6" blocks to be able to get my floor jack under the front jack point, pretty limited clearance there.

Yes when needed I do the same on my IS F... I sometimes cheat and just do one side..

My wife got me a low profile race jack last year.. Works like a charm

I do the same. Also have staggered ramps with two 2x6s, but on this car, just one 2x6 is enough to roll my racing jack and reach the central jacking point (for the rear you don't need anything). The problem is when you need to remove the tires, and rather than ramps, you need jack stands. Need to adjust the parking brake on my car, so need wheels off. Will leave it raised on the jack again with the jack stands like 1/4" from touching the rails, while I look for a safer location. I might try lowering the car on the stands on the pinch welds if I feel lucky, but perfectly perpendicular to the bottom of the half moon on the stand jaws, as not to exert any side stress on the welds and possibly bend them, and see what happens. The car is heavy, and doesn't look that robust to me. And certainly didn't expect freaking pinch welds like on the cheapest Hyundais and Hondas, but whatever. Take care.
