With the turned-down nose/hood, do you guys experience more rock chips than normal? With the way the hood turns-down, it would seem there's more surface area to get hit by rocks. I know there's clear bra and other protectorant systems, but it's a shame you have to use them on such great paint jobs.

I gave up on 2 layer touch up paint, it looked terrible due to getting the 2 layers just right. My result was always too light.
Then I got some Lexus paint code matched (well almost matched) DrColorChip. (Mine is Infared). Its difficult to match 2 layer paint with 1 layer touchup
from DrColorChip. Its takes some practice but the results are ok.
I have a bra up about 15" but this was not far enough. Got 3 rock hits on the hood above it. Pissed me off when a guy passed and cut me off spitting gravel on the freeway.
So these are the areas I filled with DrColorChip after a local body/paint shop failed. (their fill was also too light, and they left some spider web scratches) So DIY.
Dr ColorChip can be detailed sanded and polished or just polished after 10 days of curing if you dont like the
surface left from using the Dr ColorChip solvent 5-10min after application. If your going to sand (2000grit) leave just a little DrColorChip above the
level of the clear coat if not then keep adding layers of Dr ColorChip and use solvent until the levels match. Then let cure for 10 days and polish.
If you can create a layer perfect without the solvent step the fill looks a little more glossy, at least with Infared.
Takes some practice to get the chip filled even with the top of the clear coat. Might take several coats into the chip if you wipe too much off each application.

Hey...we all know we're are going to get chips--especially if we are putting the F to task.
We will be the ones who notice the chips more than anyone else.
