A very valid point. I live in VA and I do a lot of highway driving (without traffic). So, I would expect to get a lot more miles on my pads.

So I got my 20k service done today (18,500 miles) and asked him about my brake wear....said my brakes had PLENTY left. Again, I do live in flatville (Florida)

Is that the original set that came with the car or the lesser dusty one?

do you do mostly highway driving?

sadly I don't, more stop and go nonsense than highway miles.

Wow! I sure hope not. Are you sure that is right?

That is OEM parts and the labor will be cheaper if you go to an independent mechanic or do them yourself. Also, I am sure that there are (or will be) aftermarket brakes and rotors that we will be able to buy for a lot less. Like the carbotech brake pads.

Edit: The parts are cheaper. See here: http://www.parkplacelexusparts.com/p...E%20COMPONENTS

yes those are the OEM MSRP prices right from the OEM parts guide. Every Dealer has the option to sell them at whatever price they choose above cost, I just grabbed the MSRP priced from the parts guide.

there are several aftermarket rotor and pad options available, and more will come as the vehicle ages.

and the link provided by Brandon is an indication of a dealer setting their own prices, though I am a little wary of those prices considering they show the Front pads to be $200 less than the rear pads and the rear rotors to be slightly less than the front rotors which doesn't make sense to me.

The prices in the links provided make a bit more sense. Essentially ~2k for all OEM parts. Hopefully we can see better aftermarket options for about the same price. I am definitely banking on more choices being available by the time I need brakes.

$8k...even $2k is ridiculous for OEM. There are much better aftermarket options for that price range.

Just noticed 2 more fellow VA'ers ...haven't seen any other RC Fs around my neck of the woods, though...but I know they have sold RC Fs around here besides mine
