Ever since then, i stopped hating on people CF wrapping a roof , so much less stress than having the real thing (like as an option with the F). In fact, if I were to have bought the performance package on the F, I probably would of gotten the actual CF wrapped with vinyl CF just to steal it off a little more from the wear and tear.
Just my $0.02 on succumbing to realizing it's driven on the road and not a track or yearly event exclusively

I hear that to replace an OEM carbon fiber roof on the RCF will cost around $15000!!! Similarly for the OEM carbon fiber hood (special order from Japan Lexus).
There was a CL member who had an old heavy glass lamp fixture on the garage ceiling fell on top of his CF roof on his RCF and cracked the CF roof. Ouch!!!

I had a car years gone past. Had CF hood, hatch, doors and fenders....then after a couple years in this AZ heat, started fading bad. Then after about 4 years the clear coat started cracking in the snow (Northern AZ winter), and things went down hill fast. No matter how much care I put into those pieces they didn't hold up like painted panels.

I take my car to automated "touchless" car washes for just a base wash and wipe down myself with clean towels. I have PPF, spray vinyl, and ceramic coating on my car. In a perfect world, I would wash my car at my house every time but that doesn't happen.
When I take my car to any of the Lexus dealerships for service, I put the "NO CAR WASH" sign in my cars.

That was/is my RC F, I was definitely heart broken when that happened. Luckily the crack hasn't grown and you really have to look for it. I was so surprised that it didn't do more damage than it did.

Sorry to bring it up again.
Good to know it's still all good.
I wonder if that RCF is exposed to VERY cold freezing temperatures (like up north in the northern States) along with snow, salt and then park in a heated garage (hence temperature cycling/fluctuations).......how well will the cracked Carbon Fiber do in , say 7 years? IDK.
If the RCF is a daily, then I would avoid the CF stuff and get vinyl instead. But if it's a show car/garage queen, then I would go all out with CF all over the car.

Gang - I am about to 3M Carbon Fiber Wrap my RC F roof, hood intake trim and rear spoiler. I have to make a decision between 3M Gloss Black Carbon Fiber (CA-1170) OR 3M Carbon Fiber Black (1080-CF12).
I'm leaning towards the gloss finish but thoughts, suggestions, experience?
