Adios My Friends...Moving On
After taking a hard look at the path forward with Lexus, I decided to move to a new machine. The LC 500 is an attractive car, but it, in my opinion, will not offer the same level of performance as the RC F, and I am not interested in a BMW 6 competing ride.
I purchased the 2017 Porsche 718 Cayman S Turbo, and I am extremely pleased with its performance. Car & Driver's instrumentation-based testing of the 718 S turbo PDK resulted in a 3.6 0-60, 12-flat quarter mile, 1.18 gs on the skid pad, and it will turn off at around 180 mph. It's the supercar performance that I was seeking from the next Lexus at around a $100K spend point. You can see it run the hot lap at Nurburgring in this video. As a point of reference, the car did the hot lap 10 seconds faster than the M4.
The RC F remains an outstanding car in my history of driving machines, and I am certain that Lexus will continue to improve on the F with each new release. While I will miss that massive, masterpiece V8, the engine in the 718 S turbo has been proven in the 919 hybrid. They planted the 10%+ steering from the 911 turbo into this car, so it handles like a slot car. The engine has several levels of "growl" thanks to the Sport Exhaust. The lightning quick shifts of the PDK (double clutch) are exciting, and the torque curve makes a straight line to its peak output--there is no turbo lag in the 350 hp S version of the car.
I have enjoyed participating in this group, and I have learned a lot.
Best regards to all of you!

I am benefit from the variable vane geometry in this ride. It delivers excellent responsiveness at low engine speeds and provides a high maximum power output on demand.

I'm surprised to see you make the switch to the boosted 4-cylinder 718 Cayman S considering how much you loved and defended the RC-F from all detractors all these years.
BTW, the 1.18g skidpad you quoted was in reference to the Corvette Grand Sport with Pilot Cup 2 tires. The 718 Cayman S pulled a 1.02g on the skidpad.

For people who remember when only bewinged race cars could corner at 1.00 g, the amount of grip available on the open road is astonishing, but the car’s manners as it approaches the limit are even more so. On our skidpad, it understeered even less than did a Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport pulling 1.18 g in the same test.

I said Adios to my RC F about a month ago as well. Decided I needed something a little more practical since I live in a major suburb and didn't get much of chance to let the RC F loose! Looked at many things including ordering a Macan Turbo, but stuck with Lexus. Got a 17 LX. I know it's a completely different direction, but loving it so far! Almost have as many miles on it in a month as I had in a year with the RC F. Going to miss the roar of the RC F engine and exhaust starting up though. Enjoy your Porsche!

Beautiful car, no doubt. Thankfully when Porsche moved to the boosted 4 I am no longer obsessed with the Cayman/Boxster. In the recent comparo test a turbo 4 Boxster was just south of $100k. $100k for a boosted 4...not sure I can buy into that, regardless of the track numbers, it lost its soul. If I ever go the Boxster/Cayman route, it would be a used flat 6.

Nice... Traded in my Caymen S couple of years ago, sure miss it drove that little beauty from San Diego to San Antonio then back for schooling. I'll get back into the Porsche life, I think I'm still a member of the PCA.
