2nd Complimentary Service ...what a lie
#18
Toyota changed my oil for $60 at 10k, and did the rest as complimentary. They were going to charge a little more if I changed the cabin air filter. But they recommended not doing it since they held them up side by side for me and I couldn't tell which one was the new one...

So I took my RCF int today to the Escondido, CA Lexus dealership for the 2nd service at 10,000 miles only to find out they won't honor the 2 complimentary services the promised when I bought the car. Supposedly it's a misunderstanding, because the 1,000 mile check is the 1st service and the 5,000 mile is the 2nd complimentary service. What a bunch of BS!!! I thought it was 2 come in to the dealership complimentary charge, because even the salesperson said I would be covered until 10,000 miles. Unreal.
Has this happened to anybody else by chance?
Cheers,

Cheers,
NOTE: I did receive an email from Lexus asking me to come in to the dealership to get my complementary 12month/10k service. If you get that, you can bring that in to show as extra leverage. Not sure why all these dealerships are pulling this now.

Funny. My dealership tried to pull this on me over the weekend stating it is only for 2016 and newer. BS (I asked to make sure when buying the car last December that the 10k was covered since there was a 1k and 5k. They stated I would get all three w/ the RCF). I was about to make a stink but the manager said since they stated they didn't enter the 1000 mile service in the system correctly for my vehicle, they just marked it as that service and gave me a complementary oil change.

dealers aren't pulling anything:
page 4 of the Warranty Manual for the RC-F starting in 2015: only 1,000 and 5,000 mile service is covered by Lexus.
http://drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/do...-MMS-15RCF.pdf
and so there is no confusion, here is page 5:
Lexus does not cover the 12 month 10K service on the RC-F, if a dealer choose to, and many do, they are not being reimbursed by Lexus for it, so they eat the cost.

Since most of the sales people assume that the 1st and 2nd are 5K and 10K seeing all the other models are, it is easy to see why the mistake is made.
But it is the buyers responsibility to know what is covered because they are provided with all the paperwork and warranty booklets that spell it out in black and white. Ignorance is not an excuse in the eyes of the law, or in the eyes of corporate accountants.
For the most part Lexus dealerships do not want to **** off their customers (unlike American car manufacturers and their dealerships) so they tend to given in when pressed.

It was in my sales documents for my CPO, L Certified 2015 RCF.
INITIALLY, there was some confusion, but the servicing Lexus dealer called the selling Lexus dealer, all OK. No charge for my 5k and 10k services.

some dealerships will offer more services for free

There is just no reason for the 1k or 5k service anyway. It is ridiculously easy to change the oil on these cars. I bought a box of filters, and I get my full synthetic oil from Amsoil delivered to my house. I did my 5k oil change in my garage and my car hasn't seen the dealer since I bought it. No reason to visit the dealer until I need a maintenance that I can't or won't do - I'll probably take it to Lexus at 30k, 60k, 90k miles, etc. That's my $.02.
