Thread revival. I wanted to see if other owners are still taking their F's to Toyota for service intervals, going to the Lexus dealer or doing your own service or have your own shop you go to? Are the Toyota oil changes still cheaper and do they keep the online service info updated? Do they also do the undercarriage inspections as well at 30k+ etc as well?

Yes, my Toyota dealership where I take my Corolla XRS and my previous RX400h said they are significantly cheaper than Lexus for the same exact service/oil change. They say, they service the dealership owner's GSF. That is why I was taking my previous RX400h to them. However, my RCF is too new that I cannot muster the courage to take it to the Toyota dealership since there is a trained F specialist at the Lexus dealership. I also take our newer RX450h to the Lexus dealership. I am even planning on getting the lower control arm bushings by Lexus as well. I would pay more to have more peace of mind as RCF is a very expensive car to repair, if something breaks.

Anyway, yes Toyota will significantly do it for cheaper than Lexus, but you don't get the full detail and it may not have a certified F technician (if that matters to you).

Lexus dealer only. Warranty work cannot be performed at a Toyota dealer if you choose to bring it there. Also your national service history wont be consistent.

From the above the Lexus dealer has a trained "F" specialist? Is this actually a thing or marketing BS that the dealer tells people to get them to come back to the dealer for work?

*Genuinely asking*

I get two oil changes for my 2020... I'm at 120miles currently almost 6 months of ownership. I figure I am going to take it to them next month and say change the oil. They'll probably look at me like WTF..lol But I don't care. I get two free in the year so will use them. I wish I could just get the oil in containers because I would do it myself. But I know they won't do that.

Most Lexus service department has an "F" champion master tech. There are even specific ones for LFA.

The oil is bulk oil that is pumped from drums.

Yea this is true. I used to take my IS to a Toyota delearship for oil change because it’s close and the Lexus delearship is far from my house. They use the same Toyota oil and filter. Also everything they performed is recorded under Lexus drivers service history. You just can’t go to Toyota for any campaigns, recall, and warranty work. You need Lexus for that.

Pretty much depends on where you live. I'm 10 miles from the Toyota dealer, but 220 miles to the nearest Lexus dealer.

Just did my own last weekend. Probable one of the easiest oil changes I have ever done. I don't trust dealers or other shops for that matter for work I can do myself.

I know for sure Thousand Oaks Lexus doesn’t have one....the many times they have misdiagnosed my car and previous ISF is quite amazing.

I travel 40 miles just to go to Tommy at Music Box or Longo Lexus of El Monte.

When I got my used RCF I took it in for the fuel pump recall. I used my local Lexus dealer. The oil looked fresh but I had them change it anyway to mobile 1 so I would know exactly when it was changed. They over filled my car by more than a quart. I checked a few days later and I was shocked. Luckily, I have one of those oil pumps that goes down the dip stick. I was seriously not happy that the dealer could not do a simple oil change correctly.

Now, I just order oil from Aimsoil and do it myself. Very easy and I know I am getting good oil and it will be filled correctly.

I always took my car to Longo Lexus when I used to live in SoCal. I knew the shop foreman and the specific technician that solely worked on my car.

Tommy @ Music Box is a good friend. I have been taking my electronic and suspension lowering duties to him for many years.
