Clarkson's opinion on RC F vs GS F
#16
Stiffer chassis in GSF makes it handle sharper than the RCF. Not saying the RCF is bad, but it does have the Frankenstein chassis compared to the well-honed and developed 4GS chassis. Don't be surprised when many people praise the GSF when they weren't impressed with the RCF.
I have driven both too, and I lean towards the GSF. That's ok though, people are allowed to like different things.

Again, expectations for RCF was to be a mini LFA and when it wasn't critics just let out their disappointment.

OK. But Clarkson did not know or did not have any clue that the LFA was an extremely limited production vehicle (500 copies for 2012) with a price tag of north of $400K+?
Versus the RCF is a mass production vehicle with a price of around $80K fully loaded? I mean if the price tag of the RCF was in the same ballpark as the LFA, then YES, Clarkson had every right to say whatever bad things he wanted to say about the RCF. HE KNOWS BETTER AND HE SAID BAD THINGS AND DROVE THE RCF BADLY ON PURPOSE! This is not excusable for him as this is his profession and he lives and breathes in the automotive industry.
An example:. One goes out and buys a brand new VW Bug. Drives it home and then became upset because it will not perform like a Porsche 911 and says it is slow and does not handle like a Porsche 911? And continues to complain that it can't take that turn at 70 mph and had to slow down to 35mph and sliding all over the place!!! And on and on. Come on Clarkson, get real and do your home work BC your are supposed to be a professional and people USED to rely and trust your reviews and opinions. Trying to compare the uber performance $400K+ LFA to the $80K LUXURY coupe RCF? Two different animals!!!

BMW surely slipped him several benjamins for that one. He lost my respect when he reviewed the GSF later on and loved it. It totally confirmed he was full of crap reviewing the RCF and totally confirmed my suspicions. They're both great cars, just a bit under powered with the competition. They both share the same powerplant. Then that asshat wants to talk about sound? It's the same motor! same induction sound, coming from the two stage valve intake box. Even the ISF has been doing this since 2008. He made it even worse for not letting the stig hot lap it.

Exactly, that's what I was trying to say. I don't know why he went in there trying, actually not even trying, he compared it with the LFA and he very well knows what the LFA is and the price and everything. I don't know what he was thinking with his expectations of the RC-F being up there with the LFA. I do find it disappointing that he did this review the way he did, I guess we'll never really know the actual reasons but it wasn't very professional because opinions are opinions, and he can very well just not like the car because of its looks or the comfort etc etc but to do a review and not even try to drive the car properly and make it look like the car is just horrible is just wrong.
Yeah, that was extremely stupid not to even let the Stig hot lap it.... maybe they did do it and they didn't like the numbers so they didn't show it because it was going to contradict how Clarkson was full of **** and the car can actually put down good numbers?

Clarkson, who? All this talk about what "feels" stiffer or whatever. unless I see timed data from a track by a pro, I really don't give reviews much credence. According to lightening lap results, neither the GSF or ISF has that much of a definitive edge

I must be honest, the first time I test drove the RC-F, I too was a little disappointed but not to the extend that I hated the car, I still loved it. I went in expecting more but we all know the car has a lot of restrictions to keep it from getting out of control and the second time I test drove it when I went to trade my old car, I went with a little more knowledge about the it and its modes and did a little better test drive and it made a difference... and well, I did leave the dealership with it lol ... and now there's not a second I regret about getting my RC-F. Never driven it on a track but on the streets, it sure as hell puts a smile on my face!

According to Chris Harris and his recent review of the GSF: "Everything about it (GSF), and the way it (GSF) goes down the road is so much better than the RCF...this (GSF) is an infinitely better vehicle than that (RCF)." [9:59]
A driver's opinion like Chris Harris deserves as much respect as Randy Pobst and Ben Collins.

I was trying to find Chris Harris' review of the RCF, but can't seem to find it. The GSF probably does ride better than the RCF, mostly due to its better platform and longer wheelbase. No surprise there to me considering it does cost more. The LC500 will probably be an awesome car to drive as well
