I hear the crackle pops all the time on those exotics at the local cars and coffee. Most of the time it's an aftermarket exhaust FI, Akrapovic, Armytrix etc. If I hear it on a crappy old looking car then yeah I'd think it's low quality.

OP keep in mind that a lot of these newer cars are now FI so it's very easy to get that sound with ANY type of aftermarket exhaust or modification compared to our platform. Just my .02

Great point, funny enough, started it up today in my garage, cold start, beautiful pop/crackle right away.

I understand it's not for everybody, but I personally love it.

I once saw in a video that the Jaguar F-Type V8 purposefully added spark when the throttle is decelerating, so basically misfires on purpose

RICE - race inspired cosmetic enhancement. Agreed.

Cosmetic - affecting only the appearance of something rather than its substance..... So no.

But yes, it's purely for enjoyment opposed to performance. Assuming it was there from factory.

Unnecessary sounds are not "cosmetic"? I would put this in the same category as ASC, and IMHO, ASC is a cosmetic enhancement with no functional value. I turn it off every time I get in the GS F just like I automatically select sport mode.

With my last car, I knew exactly when it would crackle, accelerate past 4k, let it decel in same gear, around 3500-3000 you get magical crackle. Any idea when this happens with the RCF engine? Haven't figured it out yet!

To add, I believe when it happened I was at very low RPM, sub 2K which seems strange to me.
Install headers and you'll be hearing lot of that.

I don't believe ASC can be turned off in the RCF, you can turn it off in the GSF?

Also, for those of you who don't personally like when an exhaust pops/crackles, please, feel free to hit the back button and go into another thread before you post useless opinionated comments about something I have made clear I enjoy. I'm fine with you not liking it, but why clutter the thread?

This is what I found on YouTube, seem like it's something hard to accomplish for our V8's without a fuel or ingnition timing tune.

You posted an opinion, but don't want to hear opposing opinions? Why post in the first place?

That's like posting a pic of your new wheels and getting upset because some people don't like them. Not everyone will agree with you, it's a fact of life.

My 05 LS430 has 2.25 inch straight pipes and it backfires/crackles when downshifting sometimes. It happens more when I'm downshifting in manual mode. I'm curious if the RC-F can achieve it with a straight pipe setup. The weird thing is that I never tried to achieve backfiring on my car either but I like it.

My friends that owned IS-F's typically never had any backfiring but most of them used Borla exhausts. I would give the straight pipes a shot if you can handle the loudness.
