Newbie and silly question about wheel repair
So if I was stupid enough to get a little curb rash on my wheel and had ir repaired by the dealer or whoever, am I guessing they just fix the polished out side portion of the wheel that was scratched? They do not paint the whole instead of the wheel either, do they? Got my wheel repaired by the dealer and maybe it is just my imagination ,but it seems to be a little different color in the inside grade area.. Maybe the light reflection but I cannot imagine they re painting the whole wheel. Any answers would be appreciated. Just so you know the curb was was just on the very polished outside of the rim. Thanks in advance!

Yes they have some really cool bondo stuff, and then they paint it. On a good job, you can't ever tell the rim has been "refinished". Sometimes it does not look like brand new if you look at it hard, but for the most part you should not be able to notice.
To whomever I once read say that the Lexus Wheel and Tire protection isn't worth it, eh I'm not sure. I just went through my second rim and second tire though the plan. for $1199 for 9 years/unlimited, it paid for itself quick. Those rims are $699.99? And it was all debris related on the highway I had no chance of avoiding.

The question I am trying to get answered is that is you had a small curb rash on just the outside shiny part of the wheel I am presuming that do not repaint the whole wheel including the dark grey on the inside. Can someone confirm I am correct. Thank you

Can anyone confirm that the whole wheel is not painted inside and out and just basically the small damaged part is fixed. I believe it would be very touch to match that inside dark grey color. Thanks for your patience, just a little ****!

you would probably find the answer if you asked the dealer what they did.

Dealer sent it out, so instead of bugging them would any wheel experts think that commonly the whole wheel inside and out be repainted or do they just ry to touch up the small area that was damaged. My common sense says that grey area on the inside would be pretty hard to match and think they would try just to touch up the polished lip that was damaged. Any knowledge or past experience would be appreciated. It looks great but maybe my imagination thinks there repainted the whole wheel which would be a great deal of work and thinking very hard to match. Sorry for my **** questions but just like some piece of mind!! Thanks again!

Ok I'm going to try and answer this question one final time as a guy who's had he rims refinished twice. THEY FIX ONLY THE PORTION OF THE WHEEL THAT IS DAMAGED OR CHIPPED OR SCRATCHED. THEN THEY PAINT IT AND MATCH IT AS BEST THEY COULD. THAT IS IT, NO PAINTING ANYTHING BUT THE DAMAGE REPAIR.

My guy attempted to repair mine and was only able to straighten it out. The shiny part is some kind of special polishing from the manufacturer. He tried a lot of different levels of polishes but couldn't get it to match. From afar you can't tell but if you were to look close for few minutes you can see where it was repaired.
