I just bought my 2017 RCF (didn't even get it yet) but I'm already considering changing the Intake. I've had a 2011 IS350 F Sport (which I love) and immediately fitted it with the Takeda intake. Didn't do any other mods to my IS.

I fell n love with the look of the RCF when it first came out and finally decided to pull the trigger and buy one. I got a great deal on a 2017 with just 1800 miles!

Can anyone offer pros/cons on either intake? The RR Racing looks really cool since its carbon fiber like my interior yet I know K & N has always been reliable. RR Racing has the carbon fiber intake on sale for $219.99 which seems like a good deal. Just wanted to get advise from other before I bought it.

You really research because this has been discussed. I would just keep the oem and get a good after market dry filter in there..

Thanks all for your replies. I like the carbon fiber look of the RR Racing intake but was wondering if there was any difference in performance between both.

Guys, regarding intakes, the short of it is they don't make power. We offer a carbon pipe for aesthetic reasons, and to eliminate contamination from the valve breather hoses.

If an intake made power, we would sell it.

That said, the RCF has a problem.... if you datalog intake air temperature, you will find that the IAT's increase, even as speed increases. Above 3500rpm, the secondary airbox flapper opens and lets in hot air from under the hood. On the ISF, when the flapper door opens it gets cool air from the fender compartment area.

My suggestion is to plumb a 2.5"-3" hose off of the brake duct, through the fender, and point it at the airblox flapper. This should reduce IAT about 20-30F, which has a significant effect on power on an NA engine.

Unfortunately unless its a closed system it still would suck in the hot air .. Rafi do you believe the ecu would allow for a bit more timing since the ait would be a lot lower?

true, it wouldnt be perfect But if the hood duct is doing its job and moving the hot air out And the brake duct was now feeding cooler air into the compartment near the aux intake I could see where it would be cooler.
but now that you mention a closed system. Im curious what it would take to creat such a mod

Rafis, your SC intake, would it need some extra venting too, as it is just a large cone filter. Not a direct cai??
