'15 Auto shifting issues at 16,000 miles
Hello!
My '15 RCF HAS 16,000 miles on it and I suddenly started experiencing the issues below. I am definately going to bring it in, but I know how that goes, and would like to have as much info as possible going in and curious to know if anyone has experienced the same thing. I've kept up on the hesitation/fuel pump/flash issue threads, and this seems like something different. Any input is much appreciated
In sports mode, the timing on the shift is off, and often gets stuck in 3rd gear (up to 60mph), will only shift if I let off the gas and 'encourage' it to shift.
In Sports + mode, it has started shifting erratically. It has gotten to 8th gear and still only at 50-60mph. I've also experienced it getting stuck in 3rd or 4th when I'm up to 75mph.
This just started a few days ago and happens every drive. The only other shifting issues I have experienced is a bit of a lag or delay when I floor it in any mode. I can floor it and it will have a delay and then sometimes get hung up in 3rd.
Hard to drive it like I stole it with this $&?@ happening!

Disconnecting the battery doesn't reset the TCU, only the ECM and some other stuff depending on the model. Newer Lexus cars are definitely a lot better than the older ones for not resetting a million presets when the battery is replaced, but resetting the TCU requires Techstream.

There is no TSB or LSB for the transmission in the RC F. The only software update is for the ECM, L-SB-0031-16, and that's to stop an abnormal fuel pump noise. It does nothing to the transmission or TCU.

Mine is a 15 and I had the same issues with mine so I took it into lexus and my service adviser told me others had the same issue but there was an update for the fuel issue that made a night and day difference on the shift points. Afterwards it was A lot better but if you want to go even further with better shifting and smoothness I highly recommend the ecu reflash from rr-racing...

Some dealers will not perform the reflash without identifying the noise. Resetting the ECM is likely to have the same effect as getting a reflash without having to hassle with the dealer. The FSM says to remove the battery cable for one minute to reset the ECM. If you don't like pulling the battery connection for one minute, you can "remove the EFI-MAIN and ETCS fuses from the No. 2 engine room relay block and No. 2 junction block assembly located inside the engine compartment for more than 1 minute." See page 509 in your owner's manual for the location of the Type B fuse box, the necessary fuses are there. I always pull the fuses to avoid resetting everything else in the car affected by power loss.
