welcome. Born and raised in Chicago and living in San Diego. As far as things to do besides surfing, Chicago has it all over San Diego. Cali has great weather, but a little too over crowded and expensive . I never really get a chance to open up the RCF due to constant traffic. Took me 9 hours took drive from Las Vegas yesterday. Usually do it in about 5. No drag strips within 100 miles.

I know what you mean. Way too crowded!!! SoCal traffic is just horrible. That's why we decided to settle just north of SD. We drove many times from the Temecula area to Vegas. We learned over the years not to drive out to Vegas on a Friday afternoon/evening/night AND not to drive BACK out of Vegas on a Sunday pass noon!!! This usual trip will take double the time during peak hours!!!
That was why I shipped my RCF and my old MB SLK55 AMG hardtop convertible to MS where I can really cruise and enjoy (summer is way too hot and humid to go topless on my convertible though). I drive my hybrid CT200h to the airport when I fly out to work (great for the stop and go traffic in SoCal). Other times we drive our LX570 and RX450h to haul our kids and their gear around. Short trips in SoCal stop and go traffic we take the RX450h. Longer trips on LX570.
