don't use anything sharp, best bet is a friend moving the dry around and your hands in gloves massaging it..

I've used Permatex vinyl repair kit with great success. It has the main colors of paste so you can blend to the right match. It also has texture stencils to mimic the pattern. I repaired my leather couch a couple years ago and recently a small tear on my IS' steering wheel and looks as close to new as you can get.

I found a similar (somewhat larger) damaged area on my passenger door after service at the Lexus store. They had their contract vinyl person repair it. Several years later, the repair is invisible.
