Default Stock baseline dyno

\\UPDATE: INSTALLED BORLA EXHAUST https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rc-...l#post10062953

So before putting any mods on I wanted to get baseline numbers. This was done on a dynojet. It was done on 5th gear as 6th gear was hitting the speed limiter before redline. came out to be 402 whp 366 tq.

The printout shows 4th gear pull (RED) and 5th gear pull (BLUE). These are the corrected numbers. The uncorrected was 396 max power. Somewhat notchy, was hoping a little more linear but I'm happy with the result.

Might be dyno variation, but the LC500 dyno'ed at 390 whp (rated at 471 HP and 398 ft-lbs). If your 402 whp are SAE corrected then 17% typical mininum RWD drivetrain loss will yield a ~ 485 HP crank power.

So installed the Borla Catback exhaust. No tune or anything. Negligible change. The power band seems the same. It's just the sound. 3rd pull was 406 whp on 5th gear. The 2nd pull was on 6th gear but again it was hitting the limiter so can't get a final read.

Ok..so no power increase with the Borla? I guess I don't understand how different manufacturers indicate a 20 h.p. bump ( i.e ARH or Joe Z, or Meisterschaft...when the Borla showed basically none? No doubt it sounds awesome..

What does Borla say? Hey, Josh at Meraki, are you there?

Every car is different, my stock numbers were higher than ones I’ve read. Technically it gained 4 whp. Maybe with a tune I can possibly get maybe a little more but no point of tuning without upgraded headers.

I really can't make a constructive comment except to say, maybe this proves how good the RCF exhaust system really is and how bad the ISF exhaust system was

Not sure what happened here, but the stock RCF exhaust was always deemed to be quite restrictive. The diameter is quite small and the noise is very muffled especially from the outside. JoeZ was advertising a 26 whp gain. Maybe, a vendor can chime in on this.

Just FYI - I got a 29HP gain from my PPE headers on the stock exhaust. I don't have the exact exhaust numbers, but compared to the headers there was only a slight bump in HP. This was adding exhaust after the headers though, so not really comparable to what you are talking about since I did not have a modified exhaust without upgraded headers. Considering how flattened the stock exhaust is, I was surprised there wasn't a more substantial increase. There was also minimal difference when keeping the valve open versus closed - primarily a sound difference.

Headers will always be the better power upgrade. I’m still debating on putting one on since I like the quiet low rpms.

The Borla definitely makes power. Butt dyno indicates it picked up some and it was proven right after many test pulls versus FBO ISF. Pulls while stock versus a FBO ISF was pure demolishment (around 3 car lengths). More power and lighter weight proved very effective. After exhaust, still a loss but hung in there much better. Probably 1.5 car lengths. I believe all gains should be around 20-25 whp. Just an FYI all dyno reads differently and on different days even the same dynos could have pretty different results. When I was just borla, I had the car dyno'ed three times at three different dynojets.

1st Dyno: PowerFab 384whp
2nd Dyno: BoostWorks 430whp (might not be dynojet, but had a dynojet correction factor which may be reason for high numbers)
3rd Dyno: LateModelRacecraft 406whp
