Could be possible. There is usually a coating on the exhaust that usually wears out after 400 - 500 miles. It does change the exhaust note at that time. Louder or quieter, I have heard stories on both side of the spectrum.

LOL, Maybe I'm just getting used to it.
Yesterday morning I passed one of my coworkers on the highway going about 65 mph.......I dropped down to 3rd gear and passed her. Later on she said she can hear my exhaust even 5 cars ahead!! Very loud!!! At the point where I was just about to pass her, she can "feel the rumble" in addition to hearing it!!! She said it doesn't sound bad like the typical Honda Civic ricers. Definitely sounded like a V8 muscle car.

New exhaust systems will take a bit of driving to heat cycle the muffler's packing material and break them in completely (our is about 500-1k miles). During this time you will usually notice a change in tone and volume will become slightly louder. Since you are noticing the opposite, it may just be that you are getting used to the exhaust.

Josh, big thanks to you! I got both exhausts and installed both. Nasty! Like the other poster I wanted painted tips: black. So I painted myself. Sand and paint with high heat gloss and clear. Done. Then self-installed the Borla today. Getting the OEM exhaust out was a PITA but the Borla was easy and fitment perfect. Hit the start button and this rich, low growl came out that made the RCF sound like it looks!

Need to take care of you on the other requested parts as well!
