Damn I am scared that the technicians will mess/scratch my interior/exterior while working on the car. Is there something I can do to avoid this from happening lol....

No clear cut answer there.

Wow! That is huge, if they are stopping sales. Luckily, I am not driving mine for another 2 months so hopefully they will have a remedy by then.

i feel the same. This is good for the guys with higher mileage. you get a new and IMPROVED fuel pump.
if its accessed from inside which it should be in the back seat somewhere, I'm going to let the dealer know ill take everything off inside for them to access. i want to make sure after i get it back to detail the area myself before putting all of the interior back in.

These are in the engine bay. Its probably just. Seal used to mouny the pump over the valve cover. Its not really a big deal at all. Just Lexus going above and beyond for their customers. I'm in my emgine bay all the time. I have never smelled gas.

Yeah they stopped the sales on all RCF, GSF, and LC's. I went and looked at one today. I could have put a deposit on it though to hold until recall is done but couldn't agree on a price. 48k for a CPO with 19k miles. Started out at 50.5k. ML pkg, performance pkg. Car wasnt real super clean. Scuffs on rear bumper and a ding on fender crease. Doubt pdr will help. Interior had a small tear also.

Oddly enough one of the first things I noticed about the newer engine was the lack of a sound deadening cover on the HPFPs. The IS F iteration has these, so now I wonder exactly what they are concerned about. These units are not subject to any kind of external mechanical contact with anything, so I'm wondering what could cause damage and a fuel leak. I know they have a special fitting on the fuel input and the manual explicitly says to never every turn the fitting that threads into the pump body when removing the pump, but other than that, they're pretty robust and far from anything that could contact them.
No, it's not the phenolic gasket underneath them. It would take the most spectacular of fatal accidents to even think about damaging one of those.

It's not a seal failure- the pump case can actually crack with time and allow the pump to leak fuel onto the exhaust. Parts supplier says that Lexus has actually replaced a few HPFPs over the last year...and they're harder to get than OEM brake rotors.
