Lexus dealer dented my RC-F
So, I scheduled my vehicle at Lexus of Chandler for the fuel pump recall. They had it the whole day. I picked it up Friday at 4:00 PM - not told anything. Drove home and then took the car out for the evening. Now in the setting sun (less than 2 hours later) as I got out of the car, I noticed an obvious dent in the top of my fender. It's pretty obvious to me that the tech damaged the car while replacing the high-pressure fuel pump. Either his elbow with his weight on it, or he dropped something on the fender (a fuel pump, most likely!). I immediately took pics and called ly service guy - but no response all weekend. So, I showed up Monday AM. On the way back to the dealer an errant rock broke my windshield. Aargh.
The service advisor knows I am OCD about my car. They also washed the car after they finished the pump replacement (not at my request, as I don't like anyone touching the car but me). But with that, there is simply no way that they could not have noticed the dent. Two other things were weird when I picked up the car - instead of pulling the car into the service area like they would normally do, they took it around the front and backed it in. This made it so that when I took the car I approached it from the rear instead of the front as would be the norm. In addition, when I dropped it off they insisted I remove my dash cam from the windshield. This is my 3rd time at this dealership, and the first two times they made no mention of my dashcam. Though, the camera would not have been turned on since they disconnect the battery, and it would have seen nothing with the hood up anyway. Does anyone else think this sounds fishy? And do other Lexus dealers make a fuss over dash cams?
I can't help but think they were trying to conceal this - though they have offered to have their PDR guy "make it as good as new". I told them I would get an estimate from an outside PDR specialist and possibly a body shop as well. They don't seem to like that idea, but I'm not giving them a choice.

That really sucks. Did you do a walk-through before you handed the car over? I am taking my car in on Friday. I brought up the exact concern to my service advisor over the phone that there have been several incidents of people getting their RCFs dented after the fuel pump replacement.
She reassured me that the technical advisor will do a complete walk-through of the car before I leave and that they always give the car in better condition than they receive it in (I guess, it meant detailing). I will have to make sure I completely show the whole car to ensure it is on record that I have no scratches or dents anywhere.

Yes, insist on an inspection report as you drop off your car. Most reputable car dealerships have a porter or service advisor checking you in and a check in sheet where they mark any damages when you check in. They will ask You to sign. MAKE SURE YOU get a "carbon/yellow" copy AND CAREFULLY LOOK THROUGH BC IF THEY HAD MARKED ANY DAMAGES WHEN YOU CHECKED IN, THIS WILL STICK AND THAT'S WHAT THEY GO BY. IF YOU DID NOT GET A COPY, THEN I GUESS THEY CAN MARK ANYTHING THEY WANT.

F***!!!
That sounds real shady!
I'm like you, I'm super OCD. I'm scared to bring it to the dealer for the recall. Either something cosmetic or they don't know what the F they're doing and mess something up in the process.
Hopefully PDR gets it back to previous condition.
Good luck, keep us posted.

Sorry to hear that Jim. Let us know how it turns out.
I actually have a dent exactly like that on mine, but not from dealer. Think it came from my tire guy, who is a friend so I really couldn’t say anything since I wasn’t positive it was him anyway...
Always wanted to have a dentless guy fix it but never got around to it.
On side note, how’s that ppe exhaust. Still loving it?

Sorry to hear that. I worked in the car business for over 20 years and I always felt the most likely place for your car to get dented or damaged was the dealership.
We had a great dent guy that worked for us.

Sorry to hear and see that. On the good note, that is EASILY fixed....should'nt take an experienced dent guy 5 mins to fix it like new. As long as there are no scratches or paint damage, you're fine.
As far as the dash cam, IMO, you won't see anything "good" going on with the car, so why even look?! If you go searching for bad things, I'm sure you'll find them. If your ocd is that bad, you shouldn't take it anywhere to be worked on, again, my opinion. You're going to worry and frustrate yourself to death worrying about what's going to happen to the car when dropped off and trying to "catch" someone in the wrong. Don't be that type of customer. After all, it just a car😉😛!! Relax, get them to fix the dent, and remove the dash cam if they ask you....simple!!! Happy F'ing!!!!!

Only thing is, no choice. It's the pump recall. You have to take to dealer to get serviced.

Im sorry to hear that =(. So far my dealership doesn't care about dash cam and whenever I roll back the footage, they are very careful with my car. I always say no car wash and I see them putting "NO WASH" sign on the windshield. Pretty happy with my dealership service. Any other dealership you can go? Sorry to see that tho. Ouch.
