So I'm looking to purchase tires, specifically the MPS4S and I wanted to go a little bigger. 265/35 in the front and 285/35 in the rear, and I was a little surprised by the tire shops response. They said if you are going to keep the car, don't change the tire setup it will ruin the car. If you plan to sell it, then you can play with it. How would it ruin the car? Especially that small of a change. I know I will lose a little gas mileage, probably nothing noticeable. But is the car really that tuned to that EXACT tire spec. At the end of the day, for me it's more rubber on the ground for better traction.

The only thing I can think of, is you are going taller both front and back with that setup. If you want to gain width on the contact patch without making the circumference larger, you will have to go 295/30. That will be as close to stock circumference as you can get. Fronts at 265/35 is probably close enough to stock in terms of diameter.

ooooooh okay. I remember reading about how the measurements come into play. Maybe that's what he was referring too. Surprised he didn't tell me that, or at least understand why I'm trying to do. What are you running Rolla?

Yeah, you can find online calculators to compare the overall dimensions with stock.

I am running stock setup with stock MPSS tires. Still have about 5/32 left on the rear and 6/32 on the front. I will replace these most likely next spring/summer with MPS4S (2019)

Will you go bigger on your next set? Or stick to stock numbers?

Definitely stock numbers. I think the stock width is quite good. I am also picky about response and length of gear ratios. Larger circumference means, taller gearing and more rubber usually adds more weight per corner. I really like the 20 spoke hand polished design, which is why the real reason I picked TVD/Carbon so I would be sticking with the stock setup, Just not happy with the sidewalls at low engine speeds when the steering is ratio'ed much slower. That results in sidewall flex, which I dislike strongly. I am sure the MPS4S or XL rated MPSS will fix it.

I think I'm going to play it safe, and just go with the stock numbers with the MPS4S tires.

If you are staying on stock wheels, I think it would be the best option. Do write a detailed review comparing driving feel of the stock MPSS vs MPS4S.

Yea, I totally will do one. I still have some tread left all around, but I'm slipping like crazy. It makes driving hard to enjoy when you give it some gas, let alone romp on it and the traction control kicks. I'm at about 21,500 miles on first set of tires. Which I think is pretty good for the MPSS.

Yeah, my tires seem to grip quite well when it is warm out so the 5/32 on the rear is still good for sometime. I have 9000 miles on my RCF. 21,500 miles is very good mileage out of these tires. I don't believe I will get that much on mine.
