Unhappy Carbon Fiber Issues. Anyone else?

The edges seem to be getting worse on the carbon fiber. Purchased my RCF brand new and now has 15,000 miles on it. Anyone else experiencing this problem with the carbon fiber? Any solutions?

FWIW I had the same issue on both doors prior to trading in my RCF last weekend..

it is covered under the 4/50K as a defect and the dealer should replace without question..

I would guess it would determine the mileage & pretty much how you take care of your car! I've seen some Real Slobs when it comes to taking care of their vehicles. Just Sayin'

its covered under the 4/50. It is a defect, the plastic polymer resin separates from the carbon fiber, it has nothing to do with care of the vehicle, it happens from under the plate and an air bubble forms, similar to peeling a screen protector off your smart phone.

Unless there is is an obvious crack caused by something, it will be covered as a defect, in my case there were no cracks, once removed you could clearly see the parts had separated from each other. The bubble on the top was minor, the switches were holding the part together, once the switch was removed the part essentially fell apart into two pieces. My bubble was significantly larger than the OP’s when I took it in, but I noticed it months ago when it was about that size and pointed it out to my service advisor, he said to watch it and he would handled it at the next oil change if it got worse, and it did over 6 months in increased 5 times in size.

Thanks fellas! Appreciate the support and relief. I dropped off my RCF at the Lexus dealership to get the sunroof fixed and told them about the carbon fiber issues as well. I will pick up my RCF in a few days.

The sunroof/moonroof was functioning correctly, however, it sounded like a NYC taxi. It would squeak and make noises while driving. It drove me nuts! Car should be ready in a couple days. Good thing for warranty.

yes - I had a problem with the carbon on the passenger door panel. Now the same thing is happening on the glove box. You have to look at an angle to see it but it's failing. almost like spiderwebs, micro cracking. They replaced it AFTER I threatened with the survey. They sat on it at first and said "that will be an expensive part...." yeah really....

Mine is in the shop now getting these looked at. Advisor said Lexus balked and wanted the parts sent back since these are so expensive. At least they're getting replaced.

This happened on the dash pieces on my GSF and the dealer replaced them free of charge. The dealer said it was strange and that they never saw it before. They also said after I brought my car in, two others did the same. Seems pretty common to me.

I had the same issue for both my passenger. and driver sides. The dealer said they had seen it a few times in the 2015 and 2016's. They replaced them under warranty. If you are out of warranty they are close to $700 each.

Good luck and keep us updated.

I wonder if this would be something covered under my extended Maxcare Carmax warranty? I have not noticed mine doing it yet though but I have a 2015 so I guess it's a matter of time.

Have not noticed any issues on my carbon fiber either. Though, it is only 11K miles, it is now a 4 years old car so I would have noticed something by now, if something was to go wrong. Yes?

did they say what was up with your sunroof? Sometimes mine gets stuck when closing and I have to pull down on the deflector and try again, also have some rattling. I have service scheduled Saturday so we will see.
